"Communication with the owners was easy and timely, but very disappointed in the attention to detail and overall oversight of the job on Redman's part with their sub-contractors. We constantly had to directly let the outside workers know of our plans even though we had already discussed items with Redman. We had to ask them to clean up after themselves (one contractor said he never owned a tarp before) and have the electrician come back numerous times to fix things. Overall timeline was met and we are happy with overall design and functionality, but had to aggressively press at the end before our move in date. Items that we were disappointed in - nails showing through new cabinetry (purchased separately), holes still showing in the plastered ceiling and recessed lighting holes cut too big, so that the lights are loose. "The job went well, very brief and surprisingly inexpensive. (I understand everyone has to live, so I expected to pay for a livelihood, but I was delighted to have my wallet only lightly crimped.) Bertie Walsh arrived around the agreed time.  I gave him the two grab bars the VA decided I needed in my bathing area, an old retired vet in a wheelchair, like me. I live alone, in a condo, so I needed a handyman to install them.
I'm glad I had a professional person install them because, even if I were fit, I surely would have botched the job. This place was cut up into condos in 1987. It used to be just a red brick factory-- originally constructed around the turn of the 20th century to work with Brockton by making those metal lacing eyelets for boots. They used metal--not plywood--when they cut the factory into apartments like mine (Bertie Walsh later explained to me). If I were doing the job myself I would have been expecting wooden studs behind the tile--which would have been full of exploratory holes when I got done.
So, I pointed to the bathroom, assured myself that Bertie Walsh had all he needed, and went to finish watching the program I had on, wondering what I had to offer Mr. Walsh when he broke for lunch soon. How pleased I was when that time arrived and he said the job was done and that I only owed him $50!
Bertie Walsh explained to me that the grab bars were firm, but that he had to install them in the metal. Should they loosen, over time, do not risk injury, by all means call him.
