"Due to the combination of saturated ground conditions and strong, gusty winds we had a forty-five (45) foot tall Spruce tree in our front yard which had taken on a disturbing and dangerous lean. The tree was threatening to fall into the public street running along the front of our property and potentially causing damage to overhead utility lines running in the opposite shoulder of the street. My wife and I discovered the situation late on a Saturday afternoon and with strong, gusty wind forecast for the upcoming Sunday and Monday I immediately began the difficult task of trying to locate a tree service on the weekend. Home Advisor provided me with a recommendation for A&J Tree Service. Based on that recommendation I left a message for A&J early Sunday morning, as well as five (5) other companies that I found listed locally. Mrs. Ashley Shuman called me back within two (2) hours and asked if I would be available for them to stop by, assess the situation and provide a quotation for removal of the tree. Mrs. Shuman and her husband Joshua arrived at our home within the hour. Upon seeing the lean of the tree the Shuman's immediately worked up what I deemed to be a fair estimate. When I asked how long it would take to schedule the work, they stated that, given the 'emergency' nature of the situation, they were prepared to mobilize immediately and remove the tree that same afternoon. We immediately offered them the job. A&J mobilized their equipment and along with one additional climber (Josh's father) returned to our property mid-afternoon to perform the tree removal. Within fifteen (15) minutes the branches had all been removed, along with the upper ten (10) feet of the crown, thereby mitigating the immediate danger of the tree being knocked into the street and utility lines by the wind gusts. The remaining main trunk of the Spruce was then notched and control dropped into our property, eliminating any impact to the public street. The branches were immediately chipped and the main trunk was sectioned for removal. The entire process was accomplished in less than one (1) hour from the time that A&J arrived on site and the only remaining visual evidence of the work that was performed was the flush cut stump of the removed tree. The stump will also be ground in the next few weeks, as part the contract for removal of the Spruce. My wife and I were duly impressed by the responsiveness and efficiency that were displayed by A&J. Based on the quality of the work performed we also asked Ashley and Josh to provide us with a quote for trimming two (2) mature, overgrown Locust trees on our property. We will be having A&J back in late Autumn / early Winter to perform that work. If you are in need of a tree service, contact A&J for an estimate. "Our landscaping looks even better than I had imagined! In the Fall of 2019 we hired Brian to overhaul our existing landscaping. Through the years, some of our plants had become completely overgrown, while plants in most of the other beds had died. A lot of plants needed to be removed & replaced. The emergence of a new color is reassurance that Brian listened to me - he stuck to my color scheme. Actually, he might even be a mindreader - our gardens look even better than I had imagined! We definitely look forward to having Brain and his crew back, should we have future projects."
