"I've never purchased custom blinds before so I didn't quite know what it would cost. My wife and I purchased 15 custom shades (top-down bottom-up) and the total came in around the $4K mark. The sales consultant was very transparent with cost and helped us work through options and explained the outcome. She even gave us general interior design assistance and looked at carpet samples when that contractor arrived! There was an ordering issue for five of our windows. Once identified it didn't take more than a few hours to find a solution. They ended up re-ordering (rush delivery) the correct coverings and even though we technically paid less than we should have the company honored our original quote. It wasn't seamless but their service showed when things went wrong and that's what I'd expect. I'd hire them again."

"Utah Flooring & Design installed the tile backsplash in my 100 yr old house. The walls and window casing were a bit sketchy, but no problem for Antonio and his assistant. They were quick, pretty clean and efficient, and cleaned up the work site before they left. It looks beautiful and I am very happy."

"Work was performed quickly at a great price. There was a mistake somewhere with the order where the windows sent by Milguard didn't contain argon as we had ordered. Homestar was great to work with to get this problem corrected free of charge. This was almost 4 years ago and we have loved our windows. As I've worked with other contractors as we have remodeled our house, I have realized how great Homestar was to work with, and how well and efficiently they were able to do the job"

"Ken did a fantastic job in helping us find a remote-operated motorized shades to cover two large angled vertical windows. The solar shades have been working great now that summer is approaching and that side of the house is getting more sun. Ken was very responsive when we needed him to reinstall one. He helped us save a lot of money compared to what we were going to spend. I would recommend him to anyone!"

"I don't even consider calling anyone else, only Michael's Handyman Service will do whenever I have something that needs repairing or installing around my house. This time I needed him to install new shower doors, shave some excess off the bottoms of 2 doors and climb onto my roof to remove the winter covers from two turbines. As always, Michael was punctual, picked up the shower doors from the store and even brought somebody along to help with the real heavy stuff. The work was done neatly, completely and in his always professional manner. The price was very reasonable and Michael left the work area spotless. He even came back the next day at no charge to adjust something on the shower doors that I wanted changed. Thanks, Michael. "

FAQs for window covering service projects in Hill Afb, UT

Custom window treatments cost $800 per window, ranging from $150 to $3,000 for materials alone, before labor is factored in. Blinds are the most economical option, while custom curtains and drapes are more expensive due to intricate designs and premium materials. The final cost depends on your style preferences, material quality, and the complexity of the installation.

Mini blinds are the most cost-effective window treatment available, providing efficient light control and exceptional value. They offer the lowest cost option at $600 per set and serve as a dependable solution for budget-conscious homeowners. Roller shades and valances offer cost savings by avoiding premium materials, ensuring that quality design and functional installations remain uncompromised.

Prices increase with larger windows, premium materials, and additional labor for complex installations. High-grade fabrics, hardwoods, intricate designs, and motorized hardware all contribute to the total cost. For instance, drapes run more than Roman shades because they use more fabric and detailing. Still, a well-chosen treatment pays you back in style, privacy, and insulation.

Layering treatments—say, a sheer shade paired with floor-length drapes—adds depth and polish to any room. Sticking to one color family keeps the look cohesive while mixing textures boosts dimension, sound absorption, and energy efficiency. You also gain flexible light control, shifting from full sun to total blackout without swapping hardware.

Energy-efficient window treatments lower energy costs by minimizing heat transfer through advanced fabric technology and design. They block excessive sunlight while maintaining a consistent indoor temperature, thereby reducing the demand on heating and cooling systems. They retain heat in winter and keep your home cool in summer, maintaining year-round comfort and producing measurable savings on electric bills through superior energy management.

Bay, picture, and dormer windows rarely pair well with shutters because their unique shapes demand more flexible coverings. For a cleaner fit and better performance, choose treatments tailored to those dimensions—think custom shades, drapes, or valances that accentuate the architecture instead of competing with it.
