The design and multi level Chilton stone patio, the front steps and sidewalks, and the large stone fire ring are all works of art. They also installed french drains, a platform for a spa hot tub and a large, 3 tier water feature. The important things: The crew of 5 came every work day. They worked long hours and were respectful of my property and of my neighbors property. The owners, Mike and Ken Cordes were always available if I had a problem, question, addition or subtraction to the plan. Mike or Ken, or both of them, came out to my house a.s.a.p. to talk to me, answer questions, fix problems and revise plans. We couldn't be happier with the work completed or the entire process. "If you are looking for paver patios, the installers are great. They did a very nice job, and were professional throughout. They would clean up every day before leaving, addressed any questions we had timely and we are very satisfied with the results. We also added a gazebo to our patio design. It was very clear that gazebo's are not one of their strengths. We encountered many issues with the design and build of the gazebo long before construction began. We had hired Josh in October to complete all elements of the landscaping project the following spring. Over the winter months, we had asked on many occasions for catalog photos, or anything that would confirm what the finished gazebo was going to look like. The pictures were never sent and the only indication of what it might look like came just a few days before the project began and was a very small (1x1) black and white picture. Our expectation of the gazebo was that the material used would be cedar. We had asked for glass windows that could be closed during the cooler and winter months. We were assured on many occasions that cedar material and glass windows were what we were going to get. As they were starting to build the gazebo, the material was not cedar, rather it was pressed wood. As the windows were installed, they were not glass (despite being told that very day they were glass), instead they were a plastic film over the screens. We were left in a very difficult position where we were essentially forced to concede on both elements. While the gazebo is functional, and will suit our needs, had Josh sent just ONE picture sometime in the 5 months or so prior the project start, we may have been able to make a different decision. Related, and something else to be aware of. When trying to reach Josh about start dates, etc I would say he was not always as responsive as I would have expected. Furthermore, there were multiple instances where what was promised was not delivered. Again, if you are looking at a paver or patio project - these guys are great and I would recommend their workmanship. However beware of anything more than that."

"Great company. They replaced a large retaining wall for us using 3 foot boulders, about 750 sq ft of face, and also repaired serveral paver installations. They were very professional, had great communications, and a great crew. I can't recommend Sean and his guys enough. Javier, the on-site forman, was fantastic."

"In addition to a new paver driveway, Maltese installed a boulder retaining wall as well as a terraced retaining wall. We had an outstanding experience working with Tom and the crew. They were professional and clearly master craftsman. Tom had great ideas and worked with us to accomplish the most within our budget. I would not hesitate to hire them again."

"They added underground downspouts that moonlight elsewhere to my gutter system. Not only did they add that, they secured the gutter back to the wall and grated and seeded where they dug. "Pros: Scheduling went well. The team is friendly. Clean up was very good. Cons: Expensive Poor quality timbers making a less than high quality appearance. Timbers near garage were installed about 5 inches off design in an area that needs clearance to bring lawnmower through. The mistake was made after agreement with Brian & and after Brian had dug an obvious trench where the wall was supposed to be. One of the new arbor vitae had to be moved because of the misplaced wall. No dirt berm around trees and plants on hill. I ended up berming the areas around each tree/plant myself. One of the plants was covered by the fabric - we had to inform them and find the plant. Conclusion: Environmental Design was one of the most expensive of the 5 quotes we received. We expected better quality and less stress when we pay for more expensive service. We should have inspected all raw materials (I would have rejected many of the timbers) and watched every step."
