"RPI said they used their own crews but they had sub contracted a crew to install my roof (All Roofing companies do this). After the old roof was removed and it was dried in, they came back the next day and were installing shingles in the rain on a wet roof. I had to ask them to stop and come back the next day when it was not raining. The GAF Cobra2 Ridge vents were installed incorrectly, Only one side of the ridge was cutout on all the ridges. I had to ask them to do them over. One of the ridges was overcut + 3 inches on each side where the vent was not even supported properly. That was the main roof. I had to get another manager involved, convince them it was not installed correctly, then took over a month to get them back with a crew and the proper materials to correct the problem. They used top quality materials and the end result turned out great after the ridge vent issue was corrected so I'm giving a B rating."

"I cannot express how happy I am with Blaine Construction. They were on time, within budget, and most importantly did the job right. I was under an extremely short suspense to get repairs done and they came through for me in a big way. They did ALL my repairs plus a couple extras that I throw at them. They were right on budget and even saved me some money on one project. Their team of workers were professional and respectful. They took every step possible to keep the worksite clean. They kept me informed and quickly completed the work necessary. I would definitely hire them again and give them my strongest recommendation for your repair or remodeling needs."

"lt was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had with a home repair contractor. From beginning to end total professionalism. <br /> They sent a fruit basket and thank you card, but to tell the TRUTH those things were quite unnecessary because their work spoke a whole lot louder than the card or fruit basket. Although the fruit basket thing caught me off guard and made me smile. I don't like to put my weight on contractors but this one seems genuine. They even offered a $50 reduction of my bill to write a review, easy, because of what I saw and felt from the work and workers I would've done it anyway. I will nevertheless take the $50 reduction. Frankly with the stress associated with roofing for home owners this company exceeded my expectation. THANK YOU!!! <br />"

"<p>It took almost a month and a half after the original agreement for the roofing to start.  They were very busy because of the winter storm.  Once scheduled, they arrived on time and completed the job in a day and a half.  The cleanup was adequate but I did find quite a few roofing nails in yard over the next few weeks.  There was a problem on the first hard rain where my sunroom meets the rest of the house.  I had a leak which ran down an inside brick wall.  Called them and they came and fixed the problem within a few days before the next rain.  Have had no problems since.  Overall, I was very happy with my experience with their workers and sales team.  They gave the best quote and did what the agreement stated.</p> <br />"

"Great - we needed the work done quickly and Avery fit us in and actually came to the house at 9 pm to get it started so it could be done in a couple of days. He finished the work on time and did a fantastic job. Very professional at a very reasonable price."

"It took a day to install the gutters and they were done professionally and the quality of the product and members were great. A minor hiccup but it was resolved the next day. A little pricey compared to others but the warranty is outstanding, 20 years. They replaced one gutter that I had previously installed about 10 years ago, it didn't last or look right, so replaced it and installed new ones. So far no issues but if one occurs no issues in contacting them, definitely would recommend their services."

"It was perfect. They came out and met with me to understand what I was wanting to do. My office building had the original flat roof that was leaking in one corner. I wanted to convert the roof to a hip style standing seam roof so it would greatly enhance the look of the building. They designed the retrofit, installed the new truss system, and finished it off with a beautiful dark bronze roof with matching soffit and gutters. I couldn't be more happy with the outcome. Achelpohl roofing is a well respected roofing contractor run by even better people. You can trust them with all of your roofing needs and know that the end result is going to be a superior product."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Aiken, SC

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
