"Juan gave me a great price for the job I needed done. He communicated well with me on materials need, arrived on time, and to my amazement was done way faster then I anticipated. The work is quality and Juan and his team are professional. I will definitely be requesting Caldera’s tile for future projects."

"The stain that was used for the shower floor stuck to the tile more than the team had expected. I guess it wasn?t the type of tile they initially thought it was. They came back the following day and took some extra time finishing and cleaning it but the stain didn?t all come up from the tile and there are white spots of residual stain throughout. Kinda hard to tell unless you look close though at least. Was very bummed that the tech dumped the unused stain water onto the recently resurfaced street. Our neighbors aren?t going to be happy with us over that. The pictures attached are after the team came back and said they worked on removing the stain. Paid full price. Took care of the issues with the shower but overall, not the most professional job and wouldn?t hire again."

"Joe Lavery of Lavery Home Improvements installed a new porcelain tile flooring for a bathroom, installed a new shower door in the second bathroom, installed two bathroom light fixtures for each bathroom, and some minor repairs. Joe is highly skilled, his work is high quality, communicates very well, organized, and he is dependable. It is a pleasure to work with him and his company."

"Conrad showed up on time and built the exact fence we wanted. He was a complete professional and a joy to work with. I would recommend "The Amazing Repair Specialist" for any fence repair/replacement. He does all handyman tasks; but we have only employed him for the fence replacement."

"Found Ortega's tile through homeadvisor. Carmelo visited my home to give an estimate on a small 300 square foot job (removing carpet from two bedrooms and installing tile.) The estimate rec'd 12 hours later was very reasonable. They picked the tile up at the supplier, and delivered it our home. The next day his nephew arrived and started work, pulling the carpet et al and stacking it neatly to be hauled away. He started with the tile work on the first day, continued on the 2nd and on the third day, Mr. Ortega and son arrived as well to finish the job. They did an excellent job on both rooms, reinstalling the base board, caulking it and sealing the nail holes - then they cleaned the area very well, and left the work area neat, and clean. when it was time to write the check, he lowered the price by $150, because since I had changed the tile to be installed, there was no need to grout - and he reduced the labor expense accordingly. I was really impressed with his honesty!!! I would definitely hire Ortega's Tile again, and recommend them highly. (I would give them 6 stars if I could"

Small jobs welcome

"We hired Do-Moore Home Improvements for a bathroom remodel (x2) and were immediately impressed by their work ethic, craftmanship, and reasonable price quotes. We received several estimates for the job and Do-Moore stood out the most. We were so pleased with their outstanding quality of work and professional style that we hired them for many more jobs on the project, to include dry wall, mud texture, interior painting, wood vinyl flooring throughout, kitchen tile backsplash, and trims throughout (baseboards, door casings, and ceiling crowns). They are dedicated to ensure timely work completion, and always left a neat and tidy work space. They are true artists and it is evident that they take pride in their work. We highly recommend this experienced team of entrepreneurs."

FAQs for tile: ceramic and porcelain repair projects in Albuquerque, NM

People use the terms refinishing, resurfacing, and reglazing interchangeably. Refinishing is a process that repairs old tiles and gives them a fresh new coat of finish. This is also called tile resurfacing or reglazing.

Yes, you can refinish tiles as a DIY project, but it’s important to follow all the steps involved. These include the following:

  1. Clean the tiles or hire a local tile cleaning service to remove all the residue (soap film, oil, grease, and dirt).

  2. Etch the tile to ensure the refinishing solution adheres properly.

  3. Fill in any cracks or chips in the tile.

  4. Recoat the grout.

  5. Repair any missing or damaged caulking where applicable.

  6. Apply the refinishing product, primer, and enamel.

Your newly reglazed tile should last between 10 and 15 years with proper installation. However, higher-traffic areas and moisture may result in a reduced life span. Explore the cost of different tile types to determine which material works best for your home and needs.

Your bathtub and tile refinishing cost will likely seem like a small price to pay for the transformation it offers. Provided your tile and grout are both intact, refinishing will bring a brand-new style at a fraction of the cost.

Yes, most ceramic tile is paintable with specific epoxy or tile paints. However, you’ll want to avoid areas of heavy use or moisture, such as countertops, showers, and bathtubs. Paint can crack, bubble, or wear away over time, especially on floors.
