Small jobs welcome

"Brandon gave us an excellent quote. He is reliable & completed the work on time. He did a beautiful job and we are so happy with his work. He works with his father and they did a good job cleaning up after the job was finished. They were very polite and respectful of our property and I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone who needs concrete work done. I would absolutely hire them again. "

"We contacted Greg at Omnipro to have pavers added to an existing backyard patio. Greg was great to deal with and his recommendation of which pavers to select was spot on. The work was done timely & the end result exceeded our expectations. The clean up & repair of our yard was also very good. One minor post install issue. Again, Omnipro was very responsive. Highly recommend."

"<p>Rick Shively did an excellent job on our project.  He called back promptly within about a day or two after we initially contacted him, and scheduled an appointment to come out to our house to make an estimate.  He was always courteous, well-mannered, and professional in his communications and dealings with my wife and myself.  He and his son performed very meticulous work, taking their time with the layout, site prep, leveling/grading, and pouring of concrete, and made the place tidy upon cleanup.   He met the schedule as promised and was even a bit ahead of schedule, but If you are looking for someone to come in and quickly slap down some concrete as a rush job in a sloppy manner, this is not the person for you.  You get what you pay for in terms of service and quality with Rick, and it seemed that his estimate for the work completed was as reasonable as expected and/or on-par with the prevailing rates in Pittsburgh.   The end product looks great and of high-quality concrete materials and construction, and is appropriately sloped for drainage.  I'd definitely hire Rick again for a future project that we have in mind.</p> <p>As an aside, for the sake of comparison:    We had contacted a number of other concrete businesses (from Angie's list) to get quotes.  Probably about 6 or 7 of them altogether.  Most of them didn't even bother to call back... absolutely no response despite leaving multiple phone messages and some internet web form messages. Another concrete contractor came out, spent a considerable amount of time measuring, promised us an estimate, left our place, didn't call back, and then when I contacted him a few days later he said that the job was too small for him (???? I'm mystified why he didn't just tell us that up front).  Rick Shively will not do that to you; he will give you a prompt and professional estimate and an honest assessment for the schedule of work completion.   </p> <br />"

"Brian came over after we had talked with several contractors about a concrete porch underside (in basement room) and one of those contractors made us think the concrete was in such a bad state of "imminent failure" that it needs a full replacement. So, while we continued to get quotes for a full replacement, we also asked a retired architect friend to give his opinion. He did not think concrete was so bad and he was glad we were having a structural engineer (Brian) coming over a few days later. Brian explained why he did not think the concrete was in need of full replacement (very expensive!) and also the damage was not a foundation/structure integrity issue (not "imminent failure"). We had spoken to several contractors and the cost to fully replace is upwards of 15-20 thousand dollars. From the state of the concrete, Brian did not believe the "symptoms" warranted a full replacement and that the more likely issue was simply that we never "sealed" the concrete with epoxy (and only painted the concrete porch). Given the sky-rocketing costs to do any home repairs, it seems more reasonable for us to do first level repair (not replace) that Brian suggests. Brian's honest and informative consultation (for free!!!) is piece of mind and a HUGE savings. We greatly appreciate Brian coming over to educate us - on his own dime. We will definitely ask Brian to come over again if/when we think we need an honest assessment of our home foundation needs."

"Mike Isbir walked the surrounding properties to determine the cause and source of the stormwater. The four man crew installed a catch basin at the back corner of the property with a 4-inch pipe underground connecting with a front yard stormwater pipe. They worked their way around large old trees with out damage which was impressive. The crew also added a swale filled with river rock across the side property line to capture and slow any additional water flow. The look is really a finished one. A second project was to eliminate water at the front of the house by raising the basement window wells, banking the beds with topsoil & mulch, and replacing limestone slabs & sealing the front porch. The entire project went like clockwork. They came when they said and were finished in two days. Mike Isbir and his crew are knowledgeable professionals. An excellent company!"

"Alati Excavating did a fantastic job fixing the concrete on my driveway. Rocco is a great guy to deal with and really knows the work. He even leveled out an area beside my house and out rock down so I had a good place to park my RV during the winter. Will definitely be using these guys again."

"Excellent.  Another hardwood flooring company installed new floor and refinished old floor, and ruined them.   Nova Flooring came out and reassured me they would correct all the problems and do a quality job.  Hardworking, professional.  Owner is totally involved and on-site.  Highly recommend.  Job was perfect.  Do not hire anyone else!!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Aliquippa, PA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
