"Pioneer did an awesome job replacing a large pad and walkway which had sunken 3-4" due to poor installation work by the home builder(Zicka Homes) 20+ yrs ago. They were on time as scheduled, did a great job communicating plans. They were mindful to protect the grass and landscaping. The concrete had to be hauled around back from the concrete truck 200 ' away on the street. Their clean up was spotless!"

"I had the guys at Integrated Expressions install a concrete patio on the back of my house. My project turned out great and in a timely manner. Price was very fair for the work, would recommend them to anyone looking to have some work done, very happy with the work I had done."

"I had a beautiful patio constructed by G2 Homescapes after coordinating with their experts on a plan. Workers were polite, hard working and cared about our property and neighbors while working. They always left the site safe and covered at the end of the day. Highly recommended!"

Customers say: Super punctual

"Results were excellent. Tom and his crew tore out the old driveway, removed all of the debris, then poured and finished the new driveway. Their finished product was truly exceptional. Tom had done some work in the past for us which was equally great. I would recommend Dugan Concrete for any job, large or small."

"Although the reviews were slightly lower, I hired Gray and Son because the other company that was to give an estimate never showed or called to cancel. Communication from Kay in the office was top notch, and Clarence kept everything moving along, in spite of a little rain delay. The new walk was leveled nicer than the original! 10/10 would hire again!"

Small jobs welcome

"Brock was terrific to work with. Helped us think through the project and make informed decisions about wood vs concrete stairs. The concrete walkway looks great as do the stairs! He even took spare wood from the main project and fixed broken latticework. We will definitely ask him again when we have more contracting tasks to do!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Cincinnati, OH

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
