"CPD installed a paver walk way and concrete porch. They showed up with a large crew and finished the job in 1 day. As the job progressed they did not like the way some of it looked. They spent extra time and used extra materials to satisfy their standards and to make me more than satisfied. There was no extra charge for this."

"I was impressed with Central Jersey Driveways from the first time Mike came over to give me a free estimate! They worked through the NJ Blizzard of 2026 and did an absolutely beautiful job installing pavers in my driveway! The crew was hardworking and experienced. I would recommend Central Jersey Driveways for your next project. I will use them again when I need work done!"

"The men were prompt in arriving and worked on refurbishing older concrete steps and a section of patio wall. A week later I noticed cracks developing on the stairs, which Progressive quickly returned to correct. For now, the work is satisfactory."

Small jobs welcome

"My husband and I would enthusiastically recommend Patrick for patio stone repairs. He very carefully repaired our 20 year old stone wall, patio, walkways and steps, which had become crooked over time and, in some areas, unstable. Patrick's estimates were prompt and very reasonable. He was at our home early every morning and completed the work in a timely fashion. None of our stones were damaged due to his careful removal and replacement. We will definitely recommend him to our friends and family who want expert, reasonably priced repairs."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Allentown, NJ

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
