They did a fantastic job and the carpenter was extremly talented. I have master carpenters in my family so I can appreciate his work. Always left my house clean and was very personable and professional. Would recommend Kitchen Magic Highly! The quality of thier products are superb."

"Kithen Magic is a leader in the refacing business and their work explains why. They were very professional throughout the sales, measuring, install and cleanup. We are extremely happy with our new kitchen and the added value to our home. We aren't ready to sell but we know that we just made a major improvement to the value of our home. We liked the results so much that we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the company or to use them again someday should we need to!"

"Scott had previously built & installed a shallow pull out drawer with 2 raised & attached shallow trays in a bathroom base cabinet; please refer to my January 14, 2014 Angie's List review for 'nuts & bolts' details. This time, Scott made & installed 2 independent shallow glide out drawers for a narrow & deep base kitchen cabinet, where so many things would end up 'shoved in the back of the cabinet & lost forever'. Now everything glides forward on beefy, smooth acting pull outs, & is easily accessed. Once again the fit, finish, workmanship, & installation has been excellent. The incredibly close tolerance measurements, for a true custom, 'always been there,' look remains amazing, & is a testament to Scott's integrity & craftsmanship, which has been exceptional throughout. Without hesitation, I would recommend & hire him again."

"The cabinets in our kitchen were installed in 1987.  Structurally, the cabinets were in very good condition.  However, the polyurethane finish was wearing off in a number of areas. In some areas, the stain had rubbed off resulting in exposure of untreated oak.  The cabinets were unsightly and an embarrassment in the presence of guests. We did not want to replace the cabinets since they were structurally sound.  In addition, the configuration of the cabinets precluded replacement with stock cabinets from a home center.  The cabinets would have to be built by a professional cabinet maker. We also ruled out cabinet refacing as an option. <br /> We decided to have the cabinets professionally painted or refinished.  We selected NHance Wood Renewal located at 9 Brookside Rd, Succassunna. Nhance provides both painting and refinishing. Anthony, the owner of NHance came to our home to look at the cabinets and explain the procedure for painting and refinishing the cabinets.  After hearing his description of both procedures, we decided to go for refinshing and signed a contract to have the job done. A visit by our daughter and family from Missouri was rapidly approaching.  Anthony was able to adjust his planned jobs in order to accommodate our job prior to their arrival. <br /> Two technicians arrived at 8:30 am on the scheduled day. Seven hours later, we had a brand new and beautiful kitchen.  We could not believe our eyes when we walked in the kitchen at the conclusion of the job. The cabinets were beautifully finished.  Antony had told us that the technicians would be able to match the original stain.  I really had my doubts.  But to my amazement, the stain that had been applied to the areas of bare wood blended in perfectly.  The color was perfect.  Needless to say, we are very pleased. <br /> We have nothing but the highest compliment for the job done by the two technicians.  The job was done on the Friday before the Monday visit of our daughter and family.  The two techs worked straight through without any lengthy breaks.  They were very courteous and professional. We have nothing but the highest regard for NHance  Wood Renewal. <br />"

"I would highly recommend Nicholas. He is very professional and nice to work with. He is punctual and works to a high standard, I plan to use him again for any carpentry work we need. We removed an old (large) microwave from a custom made kitchen cabinet. We bought a new smaller microwave and wanted to the new microwave to look as if it was in a custom cabinet too. To do this required custom-making a wood frame to go around the smaller microwave. Nicholas selected the type of wood to use (not the one I would have thought of), cut the wood, installed it and stained it. This was a tricky/fiddly job from my perspective but he got it down without fuss."

"Pedro arrived when scheduled. Gave us estimate on glass replacement. He said it would take two weeks for the glass replacements to be made. Two weeks passed and he called to setup an installation appointment. He arrived with a helper. In an hours time he had the glass replaced in the tops of four different window. He is very professional, careful, and neat. The windows he repaired look as good as when they came out of the factory. I would definitely use Pedro again. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Alpine, NJ

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
