"Mike and Jesse from Kitchen Tune-Up were very professional and did excellent work. No one can believe the cabinets were only refaced, they thought they were all custom. I had one custom cabinet made and the cabinet was high quality and a perfect match. The demolition and installation took only 3 days and all workers were friendly, efficient and they left the kitchen spotless. I would highly recommend checking them out you will be impressed with the quality and the price."

"Just do it! If you are reading the reviews, you must be exploring your options. Well, you have FOUND the right company! I know I did. My experience with Affordable Cabinet Refacing was beyond my expectations. From the first phone call to Debra, her thorough and clearly presented email outlining the process to Chuck's informative visit to present (exhuberantly, but not high pressure) my options, I felt very comfortable moving forward. When Shawn arrived to measure (a kitchen initially built over 150 years ago), I was beyond impressed with his meticulous measuring and attention to detail. When Guy and Mike arrived, they were the icing on the cake. Their professional manner, work ethic, and skill transformed the kitchen to the one I dreamt of. Read the other reviews and chuckle at mine, but rest assured, you have FOUND the right company, because the have the highest quality product with an incredible team behind it. In today's world, the right people make all the difference. Kudos to each of them!"

"Overall, great. We first reached out thinking we'd just refinish some cabinets, replace some appliances in our kitchen and the project just expanded to basically replace everything and build a window seat and remove an tiny 1/2 bath to open up our entry way. The workmanship was great. We did the work in the summer and during the winter some of it "settled"/shrunk (it was very minor caulking) and they came to fix it. They built new cabinets, a new island, built a new casing for a new fridge/freezer, installed new floors, replaced the ceiling (water damage), quartzite countertops, backsplash, new lighting fixtures, painting, new window seat, tore down a 1/2 bath and opened the room, new generator, etc. I'm sure I'm forgetting something. We couldn't be happier. We also have three dogs and they were all great and patient with them as they're larger dogs, and overly friendly - they like to be in the middle of the activity. Charlie, Cheryl, Kenny, Dave, Tim, and all their subs are very professional - punctual, friendly, honest and upfront with some of the twists and turns that are always uncovered in large projects, and very clean and respectful of our home. We currently have them installing new stairs and banister and while 1/2 completed, it looks great. We couldn't be happier and would definitely use them again for any woodworking and have recommended them to friends. It feels like wood crafting is a lost art these days but not with CC Woodcrafters (the name is apropo)."

"Outstanding Kitchen Renovation by Tom, Derek, and Kitchen Magic! I recently had my kitchen cabinets renovated by Tom and Derek from Kitchen Magic, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. From start to finish, their professionalism, knowledge, and dedication to customer service were exceptional. Kitchen Magic used premium materials and high-quality custom cabinet doors, combined with expert craftsmanship, to give my kitchen a fresh, modern look. The transformation is incredible! Tom was especially responsive throughout the entire process—going above and beyond during fabrication, installation, and even clean-up. Both he and Derek ensured every detail was handled with care and precision. Thanks to their hard work, my kitchen has been completely upgraded in both style and function. I had a truly positive experience and highly recommend Kitchen Magic to anyone considering a kitchen renovation!"

"Working with iKitchens Etc was extraordinary. I know on one level that they are busy, and yet our experience was that we never had a hint that we weren't their only customer. From our perspective, the world centered on us, the team arrived every day on schedule, we could set our clocks by them and their work was meticulous. <br /> <br />Design phase: I had specific ideas about what I wanted but difficulty explaining it. Lou Ann was able to design a perfect suite of the Ikea cabinets I wanted and build in the right type of drawers in the right spots so everything is very easy to use, well lit and spacious. I trusted her experience in materials and design on a lot of things like lighting, plumbing fixtures in kitchen and bath, advice on flooring and counter, etc. and am very happy with her selections. <br /> <br />Demolition phase: We had a wall taken down, carpet and vinyl flooring removed, old cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, appliances and a gas fireplace removed and hauled away. It was noisey, but their plastic barrier wall held up and we suffered no dust issues. They vacuumed well daily and kept a clean job site. Every evening as they left, we were left with a safe and clean first floor site. The outdoor area around their hauler was neat and we had no complaints from our neighbors. <br /> <br />Building phase: Throughout, the carpenters, plumber, electrician and painter were very skilled and professional. We did run into some surprises: They found very uneven floor joists and had to take up bad underflooring then sister the joists throughout to make a flat underfloor for our new wood flooring. Also, after taking out the old gas fireplace we found the old chimney chase was leaking and we had to have roofing done (not by iKitchens, though they did coordinate and worked along on other things while waiting for roofing to complete. Because they were able to adjust and work on other parts of the project while waiting for roofers, we stayed on schedule despite having to do a lot of unanticipated joist work and arrange for a new roof. <br />At certain points we turned to the lead carpenter for a little artistic work, asking him to put together boards for the woodwork around our doors to match what I found in a photo - and are extremely happy with what he came up with. His skilled solutions and eye for design were perfect for our project. <br />The first part of thenkitchen I knew I had to have was a specific artsy stained glass tile for the backsplash. The tiles weren't consistent, would show any bubble that might be behind them and wouldn't be easy to install, but sometimes you just fall in love with a design. iKitchens has meticulous master tilers who installed those tiles so well they make my heart sing every time I walk in the door. <br /> <br />Communication and scheduling: The project manager planned out and tracked the schedule, decisions, conversations all in a central system which we had login access to online. We could and did reach out with any questions or requests through this system and always got a good answer or solution quickly. They also answered phones or returned all calls promptly. The onsite workers arrived early and reached the day's goal, we knew exactly what to expect for the coming week and while they were able to flex plans if we needed they stuck to schedule and met every goal. The office stays on top of every small detail, all we had to do was choose material and write checks. Easy! <br /> <br /> It was a long 10 weeks but I'd do it again easily and wouldn't change anything - especially our choice to bring in iKitchens. <br /> <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Providence, RI

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
