Small jobs welcome

"They were very professional. They came in matched my color to the cabinets perfectly. If you want a big project that involves your kitchen cabinets refacing I highly recommend The Home Depot. I never went to the store everything was done in my house. Great Job."

"Started with renderings and a time schedule. Estimated 3 weeks and full project was completed 3 weeks and 1 day. Project was right on time and communication was essential throughout the process. The owner Jimmy was my one stop shop, he coordinated all the contractors and worked around our busy schedule. Cabinets were pricy as we selected a slightly higher end but were extremely happy with the selection he showed us initially to make our decision. No pressure, easy transactions. Highly recommend."

"Carolyn, her son Llewellyn, and Isaiah, were absolutely fantastic! They did such an amazing job with my cabinets. Even though I still have a backsplash and countertops to put in, the cabinets are already the star of my kitchen. So glad I chose Carolyn to refinish these well built cabinets instead of replacing them. Saved me a ton of money! New AC units was going to cost me $12700 before labor!!!! And they weren't even real wood Carolyn and her team are absolute professionals, kind, and just genuine folks. If you need a face lift on your kitchen, call Carolyn!!! You won't regret it."

"We had our 40 year old stained pine cabinets refinished, including removing old doors and drawers, modifying existing valances, sanding and painting the old frames, and installing new doors, drawers and hardware. The results were excellent... the kitchen looks like new. Jamie was very through during the consultation; explaining the process and making recommendations. A designer was available for consultation on colors, etc. during a later visit. The crews were on time took care to protecting surrounding areas. Overall the process took 4 days. I would highly recommend them."

"Bob Stahl and his guys did an excellent and expedient job of the project. They arrived on the day they had committed to start the work in late January.  The demo work and new base cabinet work was installed well enough in a week for the countertop provider (which I had hired separately) to measure.  They then completed the custom cabinet work, did drywall patching and aligning of everything (which was tricky because some of my walls and soffits were pretty out of plumb).  We had to wait about 2 weeks for the counter to be fabricated and installed and then Bob and his crew got right back to work and wrapped things up including the tile backsplash.  The craftsmanship and quality of the cabinets is excellent (better than any manufactured cabinets I've seen - all 3/4 inch birch ply) and the quality of the custom painted white finish is excellent. His guys were meticulous and I'm not the easiest guy to satisfy (I'm an architect).  The cost was exactly what he'd indicated it would be and the items I added to the scope of the project were very reasonably priced.  They were also very neat and cleaned up everyday after they completed work. <br /> I would hire Bob again in a heartbeat and have already recommended him to friends. <br />"

"The kitchen in our early 1990s home was classic "Tuscan Brown," with hideous oak cabinets, fluorescent lighting, a worn-out linoleum floor, and Formica countertops. We fixed the lighting, replaced the countertop, and redid the floor, only to discover we couldn't live with the oak cabinets. Mark and his team came to our rescue with a superb refacing job, including an equally professional job on the tile backsplash. The results are stunning, and cost less than half of what we would have likely spent had we gutted the kitchen and replaced all the cabinet frames. Mark's technician, Jim, was courteous, highly competent, and responsive to our suggestions. Any concerns we had -- and there were very few -- were promptly and courteously addressed. My highest recommendation!"

"Kitchen Concepts (KC) was recommended to us by a local custom cabinet maker who said he would be happy to help create whatever we wanted but advised us to check there first as he was quite confident we would find what we were looking for.  We were on the road at the time and immediately called to set up an appointment.  My husband and I walked in and were greeted by McCoy Williamson and the rest shall we say, is history!  We are SO pleased with our cabinets and really enjoyed working with McCoy.  We walked in not knowing at all what we wanted or how to go about making it happen.  McCoy patiently listened, made suggestions and worked with us for weeks to help create a plan and select cabinets and counter tops for our new kitchen. Our kitchen remodel was "forced" due to an insurance claim so we were somewhat limited as to price and layout of the kitchen. McCoy worked with us to make tweaks to create a more efficient layout while still allowing us to remain within budget.  Had we had unlimited funds and space I can only imagine what we could have come up with together! <br /> We ended up going with our own fabricator for the granite counter tops strictly because of price and while we are very happy with them, wished we would have gone with McCoy instead.  The hassle and leg work required to find our own was not worth saving what amounted to just a couple hundred dollars.  KC hired and managed a company to Install the cabinets, they were friendly, professional and did an amazing job.  I will submit a separate review for them. <br /> During the now more than 5 month remodel of practically our entire home, we are still being faced with many delays and set backs from other contractors but never with Kitchen Concepts.  From tear out of old to installation of new, we were always kept informed of appointments, delivery and installation dates. They kept and were on time for all.  Because of them, we were able to move back into our house before Christmas with beautiful and complete kitchen cabinets!   <br /> We would not hesitate to hire KC for an ENTIRE kitchen remodel.  McCoy is talented, knowledgeable, trustworthy, patient, professional and very pleasant to work with. He was always available and willing to give advise and opinions even regarding matters that did not benefit him, for this and more, we are most appreciative.  We are pleased to provide our highest recommendation to Kitchen Concepts, (McCoy, Tommy and Ruby) and are confident that you will be happy too! <br />"

"Rodney, owner of Full Circle Kitchen and Bath, was an excellent choice for doing our kitchen remodel. He is hard working and reliable. He made some excellent recommendations that we loved. He was easy to contact and he kept us informed of the work schedule. He gave us a fair price, also. We are very happy with his work."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Norfolk, VA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
