"The crew arrived on time with all needed materials.  They worked professionally and efficiently for 2 and one-half days to complete this project.  The contractor, Clint, had gone through the construction techniques with me ahead of time, and left me some literature to read.  The walls are very secure with crushed rock, sand, fabric, and heavy mesh to provide drainage and stability.  They carefully transplanted three trees that had been in the ground three seasons,  and they look good.  They replaced our old dirt and clay with a thick layer of topsoil.  To gain access to the site, they needed to drive tractors over the lawn, but all of that area was regraded and re-sodded, so it looks great.  All members of the crew were polite and business-like, and they worked very hard and very well as a team.  Our neighbors were impressed by the quality and speed of the project.  The crew cleaned up the area, including sweeping the street.  I would recommend Custom Retaining Walls of Rochester to anyone needing retaining walls. <br />"

"I have submitted a report previously for this company and at the time there was only a minor portion of the work to be completed.  At the time I was satisfied with the work done so far in this substantial project and so I gave them a good score.  The company had been paid for all services provided to that point.   <br /> <br /> Although they continued to say they were coming back to finish the last few items, I could not get a firm date for this work, in spite of several emails and multiple calls to them.  Finally I gave them a deadline and said if this final work was not scheduled prior to today, that I was going to get someone else to do it.  I never heard back from them on this deadline.   <br /> <br /> They should not be paid for whatever job they are doing for you until all the work is done."

"The crew showed up on the date and time promised and they were awesome! They pushed all of our existing landscaping rock back toward the house to make room for the curb machine, then pulled up and disposed of the existing edging. I even caught one of them pulling weeds from out of the rocks! :-) The job was completed in less than a day. One small problem cropped up in that a 10 foot uphill section of the curbing was slightly crooked. It took one phone call and they were back tearing it out and redoing it and it now looks great. Over the summer we did projects with 4 contractors totaling over $16,000 and this was the only contractor we would ever use again. They were wonderful and we could not be more pleased with the curbing. It keeps all of the landscaping rock where it belongs, enhances the flower beds, gives the yard a neat, well-kept look and makes mowing much easier. Owner Mark Westerman is a true professional which is very rare to find in the landscaping contractor field these days! <br />"

"Each evening when I see what was accomplished during the day I am surprised by the fast progress. It is delightful! <br /> Mr. Davidson asks me if I want to see how the work is progressing. He is very patient when I change my mind about something. <br /> He is excellent at explaining why something needs to be done a certain way, and explaining the basics of landscape design. Instead of a yard I am now seeing the house and yard as a whole piece. <br /> It can be unsettling to undertake a project of this size. Mr. Davidson is encouraging, and describes the pace of the project, and discusses costs as we go. I trust him to do what he says when he says he'll do it, and he does more than that. If something doesn't seem quite right he fixes it. <br /> He also has great taste and is using beautiful materials that are really fun to see. I look forward to living with them for years. <br /> I plan to update this review when the job is finished, it is about halfway right now. <br /> <br /> Finished, for winter, and beautiful! Entries are bricked, walkways are graceful, many grading problems solved. Patrick Davidson is terrific to work with. Even though the original plan was really nice he kept improving on it as the work went on. Neighbors are glad the landscape is so sharp, and strangers in cars have slowed to give drive-by compliments. <br /> <br /> I am so impressed, as are many friends and family members who have admired his work. <br /> <br /> Thank you Patrick!"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Altura, MN

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
