"It has been a busy first month. I have received my first lawn treatment and tree and shrub application. I have also received the aeration and overseeding service. The weed situation has improved a great deal and the lawn really looks lush. Things looked good before, but I have noticed a difference. So far, so good. Looking forward to the future."

"Time Wright, owner of Busting Bark, cut down 6 trees including an unpleasant locust with large thorns. Other trees were trimmed to raise the canopy to make it easier to mow and Tim climbed my large oak and removed dead branches. The estimate was completed within a few days of my telephone call and Tim came back a couple weeks later to do the job as agreed. Tim is pleasant, his charges were fair ,and he took time to rake up after he finished. Tim also asked for permission to trim a few additional branches he saw on trees I had not requested. He did not ask for extra payment for the additional work (I added on a couple hundred dollars at my discretion for the additional work). The yard looks good and two neighbors have since hired Tim to do tree work as well based on the professionalism they observed going on at my home. I will use Busting Bark again."

"I have used them for fall and spring clean up. they do a nice job. We decided to mow our own grass this year and discontinued that service HOWEVER I gave them dates to mow when we were out of town and they said they would mow -- I sent them a reminder by email, text and voice mail before we left. When we arrived home our lawn was not mowed and very tall. I was very disappointed and I thought they considered me a good customer. I have left them messages, texted them and sent email and they have NEVER responded. I always paid their bill in a timely manner and even recommended them to a few people. I really don't understand why they didn't call and let me know they were going to be unable to mow lawn when we were out of town."

"Excellent! My gutters were in really rough shape and Deon came and did the work no problem! He was very professional and quick with the job. I asked for his service on June 4th and he was able to come out the next day!"

"I met with the owner Micah Dean on a Friday we talked through all the yard issues. He listened  understood exactly what I wanted done.  He said the entire job could be completed in five days.  Although it rained on one of the scheduled work days, they still completed the job on time.   There were several different crews working from fencing to landscaping and they were all very professional and  responsive as the job progressed.  After some of the large bushes were torn out from between the houses I asked if an 8' shrub (after the fact and 3 days into the project) could be placed in the side yard to provide some privacy right at the kitchen door.  The next day... there it was!   When the project was completed I could not believe the transformation.  Micah and his crew really enjoy what they do, and customer satisfaction is important to them.  This is reflected in the quality of their work.
As a side note, I also had a very large limb that had fallen and was hanging on the power line (the week before I contracted with Dean Landscaping) from my neighbor's tree.  Micah had arranged to have it hauled away, since it had taken the power company so long to respond.  The power company did finally arrive and removed it, however it was very reassuring to know I had a backup plan.
I couldn't be more pleased with Dean Landscaping.  I will definitely be calling them in the future to have additional work done.

FAQs for trees & shrubs treat, protect and maintain projects in Amanda, OH

The optimal transplanting season depends on your tree species, but most trees respond best when moved during dormancy. For deciduous trees, late fall after leaf drop or early spring before bud break provides the lowest stress periods. Evergreens transplant better in early fall or late summer when soil temperatures remain warm enough for some root growth. Avoiding transplanting during active growth periods helps trees direct energy toward establishing new roots rather than supporting foliage.

While technically, trees of any size can be transplanted with the right equipment and expertise, practical considerations limit what's reasonable for most homeowners. Trees with trunk diameters under 15 inches are most commonly transplanted in residential settings. Success rates decline as trees increase in size and age, with specimens over 24 inches in diameter presenting significant challenges and costs. For large trees, carefully weigh the substantial investment against the potential benefits and survival probability.

Most transplanted trees require one to two years to fully establish in their new location, with larger specimens often needing additional time. During this establishment period, the tree regenerates roots that were inevitably lost during the move. Signs of successful establishment include normal seasonal growth patterns, healthy leaf development, and reduced dependence on supplemental watering. The quality of aftercare during this critical period significantly influences long-term survival rates.

Self-transplanting is feasible for small trees with trunk diameters under two to three inches if you have proper tools and follow correct techniques. However, medium to large trees require professional expertise and specialized equipment to ensure tree survival and property protection. While professional services cost more initially, they achieve much higher success rates and prevent potential damage to your property or the tree itself. The investment in professional services often proves worthwhile when considering the value of mature trees.
