Small jobs welcome

"Herbert is PHENOMENAL, third generation concrete man. He came out to take measurements and came back out to discuss color and patterns with me. Never made me feel pressured to choose him after the quote. He answered the hundred questions I had texted him after the consult. Didn’t try to nickel and dime me, but went out of his way to make the project as cost effective as possible. His team was extremely friendly and professional. Herbert is honest and humble and I wish I had more concrete jobs to do because he was so great to work with."

"The work was amazing. The price was definitely more than competitive. But like most contractors, you have to stay on top of the management and foreman, to ensure that they understand the scope and the details and are performing them as desired. I am extremely pleased with the work, but had to provide a lot of guidance and preventing of counter-suggestions from what it is I needed. That said, they were far more responsive than other family owned contractors that I had provide a quote.P"

"Great experience with True North Developers. They did a gut renovation to my kitchen and adjoining laundry room and the results are stunning. Great quality materials and completed to my specifications. They also painted inside and outside, installed new tile to my foyer floor, and demolished my old deck in the back and rebuilt a beautiful new deck with new stairs and finished screened porch with electrical. We look forward to more projects with them as we bring this 1965 ranch into this century. They were very professional, and very easy to work with. They listened and made any adjustments needed. All their subs were top notch. They also cleaned up when they finished and sent a cleaning crew to finish the job. "

"They did a great job on the driveway and RV access pad. Even when they had obstacles, they overcame the obstacles. Very good crew does great work. I would recommend him to anyone for any concrete work at all big or small jobs. They are very detailed and knows their stuff.. also they do it right using the right materials. "Pretty well. There were a few things I did not like so downrated them. Understand that I really like the people I just found that he had cut the 1/4 round incorrectly and had changed the plans for the utility room without consulting me. I don't like her space planning at all. I'm better at it than she. there were so many things done that it is hard to rate because most were quite good. It is just that some were terrible and none were great."

"What made their service so good was their professionalism; they didn't stop working until the job was done. No matter what little problems came up, they kept going. They are excellent, professional, and very pleasant."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Antioch, TN

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
