"I have a house with circa 1890's brick and mortar that once had seashells in it. David Ricard gave me a fair estimate to fill in mortar where a house brick was party broken by a telecom company and where some mortar fell out from an area a larger masonry company had repointed a few years before. David and his brother showed up on time, did the work in a reasonable amount of time, and cleaned up after. He showed that he understands different kinds of brick and the mortar required. I wish I had known about David before I hired that other company a few years before because the larger company didn't do a particularly good repointing job. I have upcoming mortar work needed on my front walkway and will be calling David for that repair. I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to others."

"The repointing work was generally done well. Old mortar and bricks were removed and new bricks were installed. The craftsmanship was excellent. However, the color of the mortar used differed from that in the rest of the brickwork, so at present it stands out. Sixpenny said to wait a period and then re-evaluate whether any change should be made. I would rate this as an "A" but for the color difference in the mortar that was not expected. The chimney cap work was done well."

I asked if he should replace the brick stairs and he said you don’t need to and that all we need to is repair it and seal it and it will last a long time. He was honest about that. So far so good. "The joist that was slightly damaged some time in the past due to water damage was sistered to a new 2x10x16 joist. new joist was set into cut masonry wall alongside existing joist and bolted along it's entire length. Suffice to say it's not going anywhere. Had a hole in the wall closed up with new bricks and that was done nicely. Finally had a lot of cast iron drain lines replaced with PVC which turned out to be more of an adventure than initially estimated, but the adjustment was totally reasonable and the work was done nicely."
