"First the good:  <br /> Todd Clark was a really nice guy who sent someone to install the heater when he said he would. The fellow did a first rate job of actually installing the water heater.  These guys are skilled plumbers.  <br /> Now the bad: <br /> Todd came to look at the job, then sent his young relative to do the job. Not a deal breaker, but unexpected.  <br /> The job took a long time to schedule because our job was low on their priority list. There was a cold snap, and our job was postponed to handle more pressing issues. Sort of understandable, but still, one doesn't want to be pushed down the list. <br /> The young man who installed the heater was fast and efficient, but he left a big mess for me to clean up in our basement. The heater is in our laundry room which has a painted concrete floor. He dumped a bunch of sediment on the floor, which ran to the floor drain, and on the way left a sludgy mess. He then said in something of a confrontational tone, "I'll leave this for you to clean up unless you want to pay a plumber's hourly rate for clean up." I did elect to clean it up myself, but...  <br /> I completely understand if you're having a bad day. But this was disrespectful. He might have said, "This job is messy and our policy is not to charge for clean up because most people elect to do it themselves."  <br /> I was hoping this recommended company would be one we could call on again, but will think twice now. Not because of the price or skill level, but I just felt like the installer did not appreciate the work. Too bad. Todd was a great guy."

"<p>A long neglected water heater was finally attended to and we quickly realized it was about to give out any day.  Wanting to avoid the expense and terrible inconvenience of a crisis, I called Elkhorn at a friend's suggestion.  Steve assessed it over the phone as best he could, and sent Luke out within a few days.  Luke was incredibly easy to communicate with, discussing what he expected to run into and what he expected to have to fix.  He listened to my appraisal as well; after all, as the home owner I did have some information to contribute. Then he went to work.  He was awesome!!  Put in the much needed new water heater, added some filters to prevent the same problem. and straightened out a mess of pipes.  He truly left my utility room better than when he arrived.  CRISIS AVERTED!   I would highly recommend Shedhorn Plumbing to anyone.  I haven't got the bill yet, but unless it is ridiculously high, I am happy to pay it.</p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"They have been absolutely phenomenal. They have been wonderful to talk with. They are incredibly flexible and helpful. They do great job. I can’t think of anything negative to say. They are good. We are taking to them almost every other day. We have installed heating. We have been doing those ourselves and not hire any labor. They have been very supportive. That is saving us a lot. They are by far exceptional in comparison to others. They have been above and beyond. I would use them in the future."

"Initially we went with Lowes who hired a contractor for our bathroom remodel. The whole experience was a complete nightmare. Homeworks was hired to demo the bathroom and fix the multitude of major issues. They were quick, incredibly great to work with, and the new bathroom was done properly with an outstanding end product. We will be sticking with Homeworks for all future projects."

"Water heater was not providing hot water.  Called Acorn early in the day...tech was here within 1 hour.  Diagnosed situation; was advised by fone by a more senior technician to check outside vent for obstruction (I had not idea of such requirement).  Vent was obstructed by plastic bag from neighbor.  Removed---back to normal.  Short work on short notice...on time and not over-priced! <br />"

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"Excellent service! The technician arrived on time, quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. Over the years, I've had several home appliance warranty companies. Without question, Complete Appliance Protection is the best one I've ever contracted with. Their monthly price is a little higher than most, but I do have their best protection plan with $0 deductible. You get what you pay for..."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Augusta, MT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
