"Seamlessly. We met with Nick and he handled all of the negotiations with the insurance carrier. All went well; they accepted his changes and approved and released the funds . The workers arrived and completed the job , including the removal of two layers of shingles and bringing the new roof up to code, in one day. After they left, there was essentially no trace of construction debris or damage to our plants."

"<br /> Barton Little is very charismatic and personally works hard to hound unresponsive insurance agents until they give your claim the personal attention it deserves. The roofing crew that he hires did a good job with installation, and left the yard etc with very few scraps. I believe I was able to find a total of 3 nails/screws throughout the entire yard, so overall great job there. Mr. Little also requires no payment until you are paid by the insurance company- another reputable business practice to look for when hiring a roofing company, and prior to making our final payment, he either answered the phone personally or returned calls/texts/emails within the hour of missing our communication. <br /> Unfortunately, the crew nailed the new roof through our expensive gutter system, which also needed to be replaced, and thus would not have been an issue had he returned our calls or emails in order to come rectify the issue- which will require removing that lowest portion of roof to slide the old gutter system out and then reinstall that portion of the roof. Not that I'm claiming this is easy-I've never installed a roof- but it should be a straightforward project with a straightforward solution. <br /> It took 3 weeks for Mr. Little to contact us and resolve this issue, but when he finally emailed us, he promptly sent a subcontractor to our property to assess the project, and the subcontractor then quickly scheduled a day to complete the work. Per the gutter company, there were no further problems that they could see, and from the street the roof looks as beautiful as the day it was installed.  <br /> Thus, I give Synergy Roofing an A rating. A+ for initial hard work and quality of installation, A- for follow-through post-installation, but with some prompting Mr. Little will be true to his word and his warranty, so I would recommend Synergy Roofing for all your roofing and general contracting needs."

"After researching several sites such as this in which customers evaluated their experiences with contractors performing work on the exterior of their houses, I called several of those who had received at least adequate reviews by the majority of those customers who took the time to write one. I met with and explained the project I wanted done to the frontman/salesman of six different companies. The project was the complete residing of my 32 year old two story house with Hardie brand fiber cement board, the removal of a wood shake single roof and gutters and the installation of a ridge vent and a premium impact resistant fiberglass shake look roof and bigger gutters, all of which had to satisfy the Homeowner's subdivision guidelines. Following the discussions and receiving bids from all the companies, I selected Jim Pull and Premier Exteriors as the individual and company that I wanted to do the project for me. I made the selection based on several factors. First, I felt extremely comfortable with Jim and his knowledge of how to achieve want I wanted and the design suggestions he made to make my project more pleasing (and therefore more acceptable ) to my wife and by default to me as well. Secondly, I took his supplied list of former projects and actually went out and looked at them and saw that they had the look that I was hoping for at my residence. Thirdly, he and his company were able to do both the siding and the roofing together while some of those I spoke to could do only one or the other. I knew that they both had to be integrated together to achieve the best result. And finally, he bid each of the jobs individually and the combined cost was well within the range I was prepared to spend. When the work began, it was initially sporadic because of the seemingly constant rain, but the workers were very personable and explained everything about what they were doing and the schedule they were following to get things done. Everything was sealed and weathered proofed at the end of each day in the event of rain during the night and the job site was cleaned each night as well. Jim made regular visits to the job to make sure the work was up to his standard and to entertain any questions or concerns I might have. The coordination between the siding crew and the roofing crew appeared seamless and both crews even worked some weekends to complete their portions of the project. I was pleased and proud of the quality work and the look of my house everyday that I walked around it after the workers left for the day (which sometimes was after dark). Now that the job is complete, I’m extremely satisfied with my project and receive compliments from the neighbors almost every day. Good job to Jim Pull and Premier Exteriors."

"Danny Flanagan is a very personable man who knows his business.  He got me an excellent insurance amount for the new roof, and he selected quality products to do the job.  He ordered new skylights that look great installed.  My gutters are good, and my deck is nicely stained.  I had to wait for that to be done, but the guys were all pleasant and did the extra few things I needed like fixing a broken light bulb and painting around the skylights.  My roof never looked so good.  I would recommend this company to others.  The guys cleaned up after the roofing was done and they paid for a damaged bush to be replaced."

"Ernie Haas provided a very thorough examination of our roof which enabled us (after much back and forth with our roofer (DCF Contracting)) to ensure that all necessary and required repairs were made to our roof. Mr. Haas stayed in contact with us for more than a month to ensure that any questions or issues we had were addressed."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Avoca, IA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
