"Very easy to work with and they take great care to do a quality job. I appreciated all the personalized help I got from Sarah in selecting paint colors and other design elements. And all the people doing the painting were friendly and communicated clearly about what they were doing. I am very happy with the results."

"I talked first to a representative of this company (it seems to be a small local company, though it may be a franchise) at a Home Show, and gave them a try. Because I needed vinyl windows which were dark brown on the outside, they had to locate the correct brand. They did this quickly and were prompt with a quote. The cost was acceptable, so I didn't get other bids to compare. The owner/manager, I believe, did two of the jobs, and a 2-man crew did the latest. They were careful to remove their shoes in the house and took care of clean-up. They did an excellent job, were friendly and professional. I would recommend this company. <br />"

"Rocket Construction replaced our shaker roof with a composite roof. We met with Matt and went through all of our choices and once we were ready to move forward they got us on the schedule. The crew that he sent to do the work was so friendly and hard working. We enjoyed chatting a bit with them each day. They worked diligently each day and got the job done quickly. They arrived promptly each morning and picked up each evening before heading out. Matt came by the day after everything was finished up to check the work himself and to see if we had any questions or concerns and to be sure we were satisfied. He is a genuinely nice guy who cares about his customer service. We would highly recommend them to others, and in fact already have! <br />"

"Angel and his crew did a great job on our project. I love working with an enthusiastic professional contractor who does the quote and also does the work. Angel worked with us on price, and did an excellent job with great patience and attention to detail. He began with the flashing and installation of the new windows and doors using our materials. Then they completed the weather barrier, three types of siding, and the trim. It became clear that part of a small dormer roof needed to come off and be replaced. There wasn't any other way to get a good sound and weather tight job done. We were able to come to a quick negotiation of a very reasonable rate by the hour for this additional work. My wife and I were elated. A great example of Angel's professional and expert work was in trimming out an odd little porch post. All we had to do was show him a picture of a post design we liked on a neighbor's house. It came out just as we hoped. Angel built it two times, at no additional cost - because HE didn't like the way it came out the first time. Angel and his crew primed every single piece of siding they cut as they worked. They were stellar about using the correct fastners for each type of siding material from stainless for the face nails, to hot dip galvanized otherwise. When it was time to paint the crew showed up two different times and on weekends to work around the weather. They were very cautious to get just the right amount of dry and low humidity days to get a good paint job done and they shot two thin coats as recomended. Artisan isn't a big company, which is great. I would recommend that anyone looking to deal with great guys, who do exceptional work, give them a call."

"Oct 2013---We had a week delay in a start date, mostly due to weather, but partially due to the company working on a prior project and finishing that up. We were flexible and the job started in mid-October. We chose a brown color for house, black trim, and red doors. <br /> Initially, it took 4 days to complete. They did primer the house, but not the man doors. But, then we had issues with paint bubbling on our front doors. Small bubbles, widespread across the entire doors (we have 2 large front doors that open like french doors). The front doors are in full sun and exposed most of the day to all elements. <br /> They re-did the front doors. The doors themselves are 5 years old. Geoff, owner, believed a chalkiness might have been on the doors due to the age of the doors. Priming may have alleviated this issue. However, teh back door, also red has had no issue. It is not exposed to any elements (sun, rain, etc). <br /> They stripped off the 3 layers of paint, primed the doors this time around (2 coats). Then, 3 coats of paint. Primer was done on one day. The 3 coats of paint were done all on day 2. With 2 hours drying time on day 2 between coats. Product used was Sherwiin Williams Reslilience Paint. I don't know what primer was used. <br /> About 10 days after repainting our front doors, the same problem has reappeared. The bubbles are larger this time. I have been waiting to see what happens with the doors and now we are a month past when they were painted. The bubbles are worse. The paint even still feels a little tacky. Doors look terrible. Geoff said they would come back in the Spring to fix them due to current weather conditions at this time. <br /> A couple of other issues to note: Our door hardware is not working properly anymore. The interior door knob has fallen off. Tyler had issues putting the door hardware back on. It should be noted that the door hardware came off and on 3 different times during the job. Opening the lock sticks some how so requires a little extra effort to open. Needless to say, the doors just don't open and close as smoothly as they did once (or lock as smooth). And, we can't get one of the knobs to even stay on anymore. There is also a crack/split that has showed up in the last week right were the deadbolt is. I can call out a door expert, but that will cost me more $$. <br /> When Tyler repainted the doors the second time, he did not put any plastic on the interior side of the door to protect the inside of the house. There is red paint smeared on the inside of door (we told him our interior painter would fix it). My wood stairs and hanging light had pink dust all over them from when he sanded the doors down. I cleaned this up myself. There was red paint splattered on our front concrete landing. Tyler attempted to clean up but could not get it all off. We hope it will just wear off with time and use. <br /> Also, the black trim paint around our garage doors is also bubbling at this point in time. They are large blister-like bubbles. I have pictures of all this and will post on Angie's list. <br /> Overall, I'm disappointed and this is a difficult review to write. The guys were all super nice. I really liked them. The house itself turned out great, and is protected like Fort Knox. However, the door painting and door locks, and trim around garage leave a bad taste in my mouth. There is a one year warranty on the job. <br /> I'm concerned about trusting them in the spring to re-do the doors again. And, now we have a terrible looking door to live with right now, and the doors aren't functioning properly. We are trying not to use the doors anymore at this point in time and have our guests come through the garage. <br /> I don't know what to do or why we are even having this issue with bubbling paint. If I hire another painter to fix the doors, it voids my warranty. I feel stuck. Everytime I look at the doors it makes me upset. This is all just such a shame because we liked working with Geoff and his team. Maybe Geoff will refund part of our money so we can go another route with the doors. Not sure what else to ask for. <br /> <br /> 11/27/13---added photos <br /> <br /> 6/29/14---I wanted to update my review. In April 2014, Geoff came over to our house to figure out next steps with our doors. He brought a rep from Sherwin Williams with him. That guy took samples from the door and sent it to their lab in Ohio. We waited two weeks for the analysis to complete. All we really heard was that maybe the paint was on too thick in terms of why the bubbling happened. We heard back from Geoff and scheduled a time to have him take the doors to his shop and they would re-do them there. We were responsible for barricading our front door area. We agreed on a one week time frame to have the doors returned back to us. I was skeptical of that time frame thinking it would take longer. It did. We got the doors back in two weeks, but it was worth the wait. The doors had a lot of time to cure in a protected environment. The doors finally looked great and we have had no issues with them so far. We've had some really hot days and no bubbling paint. They ended up using a different SW product that was more of an industrial roofing paint. It did the trick. He sent Burt over the next day after the door delivery to fix our locks. Burt was great. Our door locks are finally work right again. He also corrected the bubbling paint on our black trim the same day. <br /> <br /> We are really happy with the doors now, and, the paint on the rest of the house is rock solid. We've been through a full winter now and a hot summer coming. I know our paint job will last a long time. All work was completed by the end of May 2014. <br /> <br /> I've improved the rating of this company from a 'C' to a 'B', but I would not go as far as an 'A' rating. On the positive side, Geoff stuck with us and was patient during the entire door ordeal. For that, I'm grateful. His customer service was very good. However, because we had to go through the door experience at all and it took 6 months (due to weather) to resolve, I cannot give a perfect score."

FAQs for exterior home or structure paint or stain projects in Baker City, OR

Painting vinyl siding is a budget-friendly way to revive curb appeal without paying for new panels. As long as the boards aren’t warped, cracked, or leaking, a coat of high-quality acrylic paint can buy you another five to 10 years before replacement.

Stick to lighter shades so the siding doesn’t soak up excess heat, and prep the surface well for the paint to bond. If you’re seeing rot or moisture damage, skip the paint and plan for new siding instead.

High-quality acrylic paint is recommended for vinyl siding. Acrylic paint adheres firmly to vinyl surfaces and resists peeling and fading, providing a sleek and long-lasting finish. Ensure the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for optimal results. Your exterior painting pro has the expertise to properly prepare your siding’s surface to ensure proper adhesion.

Priming is not required if the vinyl siding remains in good condition and is properly cleaned. However, if the original color is severely faded or the panels have become porous, priming becomes essential. Priming provides a smooth, even base that improves paint adhesion and enhances durability, ensuring the acrylic finish adheres properly and lasts longer.

A paint sprayer is the quickest, most consistent way to coat vinyl siding. The fine mist reaches grooves a roller can miss and lays down an even layer in a fraction of the time. You’ll still need a brush for tight corners, but a sprayer slashes labor hours and reduces lap marks.

If you’re renting equipment, ask the supplier for a tip size made for exterior acrylics so the paint atomizes correctly and sticks to the siding.

Painted vinyl siding lasts between five and 10 years. The durability depends on the quality of the surface preparation and the local climate conditions. When the siding is thoroughly cleaned and prepped, and high-quality acrylic paint is used, the finish endures longer. In hotter regions, the lifespan may be closer to five years, while cooler climates help extend it.
