Customers say: Quick response

"This is the 2nd time I've hired Hernandez Painting. John's crew painted my interior a year ago (summer 2024). They did a fantastic job. This year we decided to have the exterior painted, and we didn't hesitate to hire them again. Going back a year when we received a quote for the interior (last year summer 2024), we also asked for a quote for the exterior. We couldn't afford to do both, so we decided to have the interior painted first. This year we called John for an updated quote for the exterior, but he honored his first quote (from a full year prior). John's team just finished painting our exterior and once again they did a fantastic job. I thoroughly enjoyed working with John's team of friendly professionals. I really can't recommend them enough. I'd like to give them a 6th star if I could."

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Bakersfield, CA

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
