"It went flawlessly. The three guys arrived on time and made fast work of disassembling our granite slab front steps, by hand. They created a new reinforced base with crushed stone and reassembled the slabs to a new level surface. They patched two concrete retaining walls. Then the attacked the 37-year dirt build-up on our large concrete patio. They cut and filled a few large cracks and pressure washed the surface so that it now looks like a completely different patio. I could not be happier with the completed results of these three too-hard-for-us projects. Excellent work by three very hardworking professionals!"

"We are 100% delighted with what we call our new "living area" and the work completed by Rotten Rock.  Our initial inquiry in the dead of winter was replied to the same day and a site visit almost immediately.  Henry from Rotten Rock listened to our ideas (a lot of the inspiration came from other work Rotten Rock highlighted on their Facebook page) and helped us see how a natural bluestone patio would fit into our rustic country setting.  The quote arrived promptly and we contracted the work, which began in earnest in the Spring of 2015.  The job lasted about 3 weeks and the team performing the work were prompt, courteous, hard working and always did what they could to clean up at the end of each day...we could see the progress because they did so.  They took any suggestions we had along the way (which weren't many) and answered all our questions.  They were accommodating of the other contractors - and even installed all the underground conduit for the electrician - and offered to help with the hot tub installation.  The attention to detail of the stone work is impressive and we are pleased to know that unlike the ugly old deck that we never used, we'll have an area that will last a lifetime (we have already spent more time in our backyard in the past two months than we did the previous 5 years we owned the house!).  We were away for part of the installation but was kept informed via email from the office, which again, was always responsive.  We would highly recommend Rotten Rock for any hardscaping and/or tree work (they removed a few trees for us a few years ago too) and would use them again without hesitation. <br />"

"Work estimation was incredibly easy.  Preston measured the work and has a complete bid generator in his vehicle.  The written estimate was on the table in 10 minutes!  Preston started by power cleaning the "seasonal dirt" off the new deck and visually inspecting for any problems.   The weather was not with us and caused a 48 hour delay between cleaning and applying oil based Cedar stain.  2 days of brilliant sunshine opened the wood wonderfully.  He applied a single coat of an excellent staining material with "pads".  He and a co-worker made absolutely sure that everything was done - perfectly.  He is fast, honest, efficient and effective - I would recommend him to my grumpy relatives as they would find NOTHING to COMPLAIN ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Wonderful job at the right price!  Did I mention his price was significantly lower than 2 other providers? <br /> <br />"

"I had a recent urgent situation where I needed to hire a new contractor to come in behind a previous job to finish it and correct shoddy work. I personally interviewed 3 new possible contractors who came out to look at the job and provide estimates. From the moment I met him, I was at ease with Jay. He is personable, professional, knowledgeable, and it was obvious from the outset that he had a handle on what was needed. He was also the first person to call me back, on a Saturday, within an hour, and personally came to my home to view the job and give me an estimate. He also has a great network of contacts and professional relationships. My situation was further complicated by the fact that the job was at my 2nd home and I live out of town. Regardless, I trusted Jay completely to be at my home even when I was not. He gave me regular updates and he answered all of my numerous questions. Not only is Jay a great communicator, he is also a good listener, patient, and forthright. Importantly, Jay's estimate was true and accurate. I did not have any "surprise" findings resulting in unforeseen increased costs. Jay and his son Jimmy, are true professionals and gems! I feel so fortunate to have found him on Angie's List and look forward to a continued, future relationship with him. I was also totally impressed by Jay's pride in his company and his work. He pulled all of the necessary permits which also gave me peace of mind that the work performed was legally and above board. Although it is recommended to always get 3 estimates, Jay is the exception! Without hesitation, I would highly recommend him being the only one to call, and to give the work to him. "I highly recommend this contractor. I did not grade his cost because I didn't get competing bids (and therefore have no frame of reference), but I'm very happy with what he did and how he did it, so the value to me was excellent. His estimate was for $1600 and he stuck to that, except for the cost of some gravel after I agreed to get it: he charged me only what the gravel cost him. <br /> <br /> I called Bill and he came down the same day. He gave me an estimate, I accepted, and he did the work the next day. <br /> <br /> First they tore out the asphalt and trucked it away. It was pretty tight and he had to be very careful not to hit the house, garage, and granite wall, all of which form the driveway borders, but Bill did a great job at keeping it safe and avoiding any and quot;oops.and quot; <br /> <br /> Before removing the dirt/sand, he suggested (since the driveway was not flat) I get some stone dust and granite chips (I think it's called crusher run) to prevent runoff when it rained. I agreed, and he had his truck driver pick up a load after dropping off the dirt. After removing the excess dirt, Bill spread the gravel with the backhoe/digger and used his tamping machine to pack it down. He told me he'd take about an hour to pack it down, but he was actually out there for at least two and maybe three hours, just making sure that it was really packed down firmly. <br /> <br /> He did this extra work for free, even though he hadn't included it in the original estimate. The only added charge was for the cost of the gravel material, which was exactly what he'd paid (he gave me the receipt from the supplier). In my opinion, he did much more than he had promised and never asked for a penny more. <br />"
