"We hired The Contractors Inc. to reface our kitchen cabinets. The quote beat all the competitors and the work was completed on time. The workmanship of the final product surpassed our expectations. Nicholas was our contractor and his attention to detail is outstanding. The final product was beautiful. We highly recommend The Contractors Inc."

Small jobs welcome

"After several moves with the military to our forever home, we wanted to have our furniture cosmetically touched up, as it had incurred some nicks and scratches, with a few faded areas from heavy use. The kitchen in our new house also had been refinished several years ago, but the previous owners had been rough with the cabinets, leaving some scrapes and scratches. Eric did a fantastic job touching up all our furniture, which looks so much better now that all the scratches are filled and the faded areas blended. The cabinets in our gourmet kitchen look brand new. The cost was very reasonable, all the work was conveniently done in our home, and Eric was extremely knowledgeable and patient with all my questions. Getting an estimate via email with photos and scheduling was easy as well--it's just a great all-around local company worth supporting. Other companies wanted us to bring the furniture to them and had very high quotes just for a few pieces. I'm so happy I found them and my home feels so much more polished now."

"I hired Kitchen and Bath Studio to do a full remodel of our kitchen after they did a great job on a bathroom remodel for us a couple of years ago. The work turned out very well, and it was completed on time. Dan provides excellent communications and is very responsive to questions. When there were some minor issues, they went above and beyond to resolve them. Dan was also very accommodating and flexible with rescheduling the job as it had originally been scheduled during the height of the COVID situation. I highly recommend them."

"I was interested in getting new kitchen cabinets, but I did not want to make any changes in the current layout.  I found out that refacing was the best option for what I wanted based on need and cost.  They were very efficient and professional.  I was very pleased with my new cabinets.  The only downside to the new cabinets are the brackets that hold the drawers are not equip to hold much weight.  So, the company has to come out to reinforce the drawers after installation."

"Shlomo and his team did a fantastic job. The moment Shlomo entered our house we knew we had hired a reliable professional. He designed a cabinet that offered more space than those of others suppliers and make use of all space available. He had to remove the marble countertop to install the cabinets and reinstalled thereafter. The cabinets are of high quality and blend in perfectly with the rest of our kitchen. I highly recommend him. And the price was competitive too."

"We drove out to Mark's place  in Sterling to meet with Mark who was very friendly and knowledgable.  He clearly cares about his work and the quality.  He loved showing us the pieces he had done.  We picked a granite we liked and he sent us to the place he picks out slabs to check it out.  We did shop around but his personality and up-front demeanor sold us.  It was all quick turnaround once we decided to go ahead and was more around our schedule than his-he was very flexible.  They showed up and finished the countertops in just a few hours.  His plumber came separately and installed the faucet, new disposal and dishwasher for us.  Overall, we are very happy with their work and love our new countertops.  He went the extra mile since our cabinets are not that well made and made the granite go into the wall with no extra charge.  We would recommend his work to anyone looking for new granite countertops. <br />"

"We could not be happier with our entire experience with Dulles Kitchen & Bath. We have done a couple of other major projects and several smaller renovations on our house over the years, all of which went well, and our experience with DKB was the best of them all from start to finish. Our house was built in 1972, and our kitchen hadn’t had a significant renovation since it was built. Our vision was to transform our main level, which consisted of a small, congested galley kitchen and separate dining and living rooms, into a seamless modern, open concept floorplan that combined all three rooms. This entailed removing all of the interior walls on that level of the house, relocating a door between the kitchen and the garage, and relocating the sink, stove, and refrigerator. The designer and owner, Johan, was a pleasure to work with. He promptly came to our house for the initial meeting, attentively listened to our concerns with our old kitchen and desires for our new kitchen, and within a week had a preliminary design for us to review. The 3D CAD computer model that he showed us allowed us to walk through his design virtually and really helped us to visualize what the finished product could and would look like. The design he presented us incorporated all of the functional elements we asked for in a very stylish, appealing manner with a keen attention to detail. Johan willingly accommodated a few adjustments we decided to make as we changed our mind on a couple of things to get to the final design. Unlike some of the companies we interviewed, Johan did all of this without any upfront fees. At contract signing, we agreed on a start date, and Johan committed to completing the job in 25 days after starting. About a week prior to the start, Johan came back to our house to introduce the onsite project manager, Sinan, to us and familiarize Sinan with the job. At 8:00 on the start date, Sinan and his crew arrived and worked six days a week until the project was finished. Sinan proactively communicated the plan to us, kept his crew on track throughout the project, and was very helpful and responsive in answering our questions. The crew expertly went about their work and skillfully addressed each of the challenges that came with working on a house that is nearly 50 years old. They were friendly and very considerate of the fact that we were living in the house during the project. They were conscientious about controlling the dust and cleaning up at the end of each day. Because of Sinan’s attention during the project, the punch list at the end was short and consisted only of minor items, and 25 days after starting the project, we moved back into our new kitchen. Throughout the experience, we found ourselves repeatedly thinking, “this is the way all renovation jobs should be handled”. Johan, Sinan, and their crew were knowledgeable, professional, attentive, and personable from beginning to end. Without hesitation, we would hire them again for any future kitchen or bath project."

"I had a drawer from an antique dresser that was broken, and an antique bed that I had started to refinish, but realized I wouldn't have time. Mike was very helpful and professional. He offered to pick up the items, but I was able to drop them off at the shop. He was able to finish the repair job quickly, and did the refinishing within a week. The work he did was great. I have refinished a lot of furniture, but plan on bringing anything else to him. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Barstow, MD

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
