"They fixed the sink by fixing some part on it, no replacement part was given, and charged me an excessive amount for labor ($195) and the tank replacement in the bathroom---I provided the parts and I was charged $285 labor for that. They were here for less than an hour and we're out $480. And they also left a mess. I was not happy about that. I cannot believe the cost and then to leave behind a mess in my bathroom. Unacceptable."

"They were great, came out to fix the problem next day. Checked that everything was working before they left for the day. Slight leak on toilet, came out to fix it. Very friendly and professional. "

"We converted all four bathrooms to the high-rise toilets. At first, their rep said it would be about $150 to install a toilet, but it turned out they charge by the hour ($147/hr). They sent two guys out and finished all four in just under 2 hours, so the cost was about half what we expected. They cleaned up all the mess and did a good job on installation. <br />"

"He was asked if he could install new shower fixtures.  He took a brief glance and said it would be an 8-hour job.  We ended up calling another plumber who did the job in under two hours. <br /> We knew there would be an additional cost after the two-hour service.  That said, the plumber did not seem to want to do more than two-hours of labor.  He was professional.  He did only the bare-minimum, though.  I will not use the service again. <br />"

"I've used Castillo Services several times over about 15 years. Willie Castillo has generally provided my service personally. Most recently, his son-in-law, Josh, performed the repairs. In each case, the company has displayed proficiency, courtesy, timeliness, and fair pricing, without a hint of an upsell. Once, when my heater failed about three days before Christmas, Willie repaired it for the cost of a standard service call plus a part that cost maybe 20 bucks. (I can't recall with precision.) I couldn't believe it. Last week, a broken valve kept my AC from cooling, and led to water dripping through a light fixture in my ceiling. Josh came several hours after I placed my call and spent maybe 90 minutes diagnosing the problem, assuring me he'd ruled out everything else. I had a phone conversation with Willie, who elaborated on Josh's finding. Willie told me that my cost, on the high side, would be maybe $650, stressing that he was allowing for several negative possibilities. Josh did the work the next day and the final charge was $475, all inclusive. Over two consecutive days, Josh had spent at least five hours at my home. It's now six days out, and everything seems fine. Whenever I've used Castillo, their work got the job done."

"Huge "Thank You" to Texas AC & Plumbing, we have been without AC all week, they were the first group we contacted via Angie's List and they carry a "A" rating and it is very understandable why. My point of contact was Martin and he was very upfront and honest he did all he could do to meet and match other offers, I never felt pressured into purchasing a new unit and he asked me one question, "what I was looking for in an AC company" my response was "A Sense of Humor" in this heat and humidity and looking at spending a few thousand, humor is a great thing and he brought it along with fast and quality service. They showed up at 2:00 and they were cleaning up at 6:00, I certainly recommend them for your AC needs,, I also now know who I will call if I should have plumbing issues... thank you Martin and team, and let me know when you need my wife to help out down there ;-)...."

"The crew showed up on time both days and was very accommodating with my work schedule. They kept the areas they were working on clean and cleaned up and took the old windows and glass once everything was done. Very professional and would hire them again. Pricing for them was also very fair and no pressure tactics when it came to pricing."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Bastrop, TX

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
