"We were building a home and Kayco installed the roof. Looked good at first till first light when we were shocked from the wrinkles all over. Kayco was immediately notified within two days after install, since install was a Saturday. He proceeded to argue it wasn't his fault. I told him his supervisor was well aware of our concerns and chose to proceed. He did not care! I asked about warranty. Still no resolution. We entered rainy season and various other problems arose. Much too lengthy to get into here. We hired a professional inspector to which we found many more issues. The Kayco company also refused to pay their supplier and they placed a lien on our property, which they had every right, so we paid that. It was a lot of stress to endure from, in my opinion, a company that had no regard to owning up to its responsibilities. We will have no choice but to have the court systems resolve the matter. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone!! Beware!!!!!"

"My husband and I are very pleased with the metal roof that Triple Crown put on our home. We got 3 different quotes, and even though Triple Crown wasn’t the cheapest, we decided to go with them because we’ve been around long enough to know that the cheapest and the best are rarely the same thing. Triple Crown was the only contractor we spoke with who took the time to educate us on the different construction methods for installing a metal roof over shingles and why they prefer to use the batten strip method. Once we had that information, we did our own research (thanks Google) and agreed that was the best application to go with. From start to finish it was evident that Triple Crown does not cut corners on materials, technique, or workmanship. They produce a quality product which they stand behind with an amazing warranty that far exceeded their competitors’ guarantees. When the building inspector from Dade City came out to inspect our finished roof in order to close out the permit, he also spoke highly of the work he regularly sees from Triple Crown. We’re very satisfied knowing that we got a quality roof at a reasonable price, and we couldn’t be happier. If you’re looking for a roofer, we highly recommend this company."

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Rip off artists! Initial quote was almost 2k for two metal panels, plywood, felt, and labor. When area was explored, all that was needed was the replacement of one metal panel! A $600 job AT THE MOST! We were charged for labor, parts not used, etc. Dishonest and just GREEDY AND BAD BUSINESS! We had to call them numerous times for an estimate - nobody seemed to want to even return our call or take responsibility for making a decision. The person who came out to do the repair brought the wrong panel. Several days later they brought the right sized panel and put it in. Took less than half an hour to get the panel off and on. When I did get a call about the estimate, they stood firm on only reducing the bill by one panel and an additional symbolic amount. I was not pleased, but agreed to pay. They had us over a barrel - as they will to you. Be warned!"

"This is my 2nd re-roofing. The color selection of the new shingles is a more appealing color with a high quality ridge vent. Even the brochure was ultra professional. I knew exactly what I was purchasing. Gator came immediately to perform the Wind Mitigation Inspection and another day to check on clean up and my seamless gutters were secure. The whole look makes my 40 year old brick home look new! Thanks Hise for your knowledge and professionalism. Karen in Lecanto, FL"

"Eric is awesome. 14" solar tube installed in well under two hours. Zero mess. Love the results: daylight in formerly pitch dark hallway! With homeshow discount, $674 including solar nightlight. Would definitely do it again."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Bell, FL

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
