"Talked on the phone with representative. They would not take my mold testing results, done by another company and lab. Wanted to do it themselves, then reimburse me only if they were hired to remediate the mold."

"It was fine. I was trying to use a groupon coupon on it and that did not work. They did what they claim to do but I was trying to use a groupon coupon on it and it did not work.  They did what they said that they were going to do and did it in a quick  time. I did not have trouble with them at all."

"      Company owner, Brian showed up on time to give me a quote, I called him later to schedule the job and he gave me a short window for a start time.  The pressure washer showed up a few days before the start date and cleaned the house, on time and very professional.  Brian called a few days before he was ready to start to confirm the date with my schedule. Painting day came, and Brian and his crew showed up and got to work, they were very careful about moving things and covering/ masking anything that needed it. They carefully worked around an evening rain delay, and completed 2 coats on the house body, and trim in roughly 2 days.  Everyone was very polite, professional and pleasant to be around. They cleaned everything up and did all touch up work flawlessly.  This is the company you want working on your house, I couldn't be more satisfied."

"They explained everything they do to make it safe and clean. I went to work and when I came home, it was done. They did a great job and it is a relief to have it done. They weren't allowed to put the lights back together and the ceiling is a mess, so I have work to do to get it and quot;niceand quot; again, but that is to be expected when you are scraping it off. I was very happy with the work. The price seemed reasonable. I didn't price-shop, so not clear if they were high or low. <br />"

"When we decided to have our house repainted we knew it would be a big deal. The house was built in 1921 and the original paint was lead based and badly peeling. We contacted four companies for estimates and consultations, only three replied. We chose Phinney Ridge Painting LLC (they were the middle of the bidding range) because Nik (the owner and estimator) spent time to describe to us how the work would be done and why the lead paint had to be completely stripped from the house. Along with having the house painted, we were also having our old rotted deck replaced and four windows replaced too. This created a scheduling issue for getting all the work done during the three months of summer and into early autumn. Phinney Ridge Painting [PRP] worked very well in conjunction with our other contractor to complete the work in the timeframe we had allotted. The crews from PRP who did the stripping, priming and painting always arrived early and worked all day. When we greeted them at the house we were always told that we should announce if we had any issues, concerns or questions about the work being done. At the end of each day the crew cleaned up the areas around the house and folded up their drop-cloths. All the work was done to our satisfaction and the house looks wonderful now. We recommend that you consider PRP for your exterior painting needs rather than choosing a lower bidder."

"We were looking to buy a new house and were worried about the "new house" smell that was in the house. Looked up Angies List and selected Hawk Environmental for the job. When i asked for a quote it sounded a bit more than other providers. But am i glad i went with these guys. Dan answered the phone and was very upfront that while they would love to help, they were slammed and may not be able to do it in the timeframe we needed. When I told him that we are running against a inspection contingency deadline, he was very understanding and managed to get a person in for the test on the weekend and also agreed to expedite the result They were very responsive giving updates at regular intervals, punctuality their appointment and very detailed in their testing. Dan was also very enthusiastic in sharing his knowledge very clearly articulating his observations, interpretations and opinions qualifying them clearly. he was very transparent, honest and has a wealth of knowledge in this area On receiving the report, which he expedited and got done in 1.5 days, I opened the lab results and couldn't interpret any f it. Then I realized that Hawk included a second report which had a simple yet articulate interpretation of the results, their testing mechanism and most importantly what was good, what was neutral and what EXACTLY needs to be fixed. This was so well presented that I could present it to the builder with very clear and crisp actions for them Dan even followed up on phone explaining the results to me and was super glad that we found quite high levels of formaldehyde which we hae asked the builder to fix A home is a super big investment and you want to get the best value for your money especially in terms of Indoor air quailty when you have 2 young kids who spend half the day inside the house which in the US has only recirculated air. I am so happy that I found these guys and would recommend them any day!!!!!"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Bellevue, WA

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
