"I have a property that one out of the four concrete pads in the driveway had sunk. The tenant thought it could cause a tripping hazard so I contacted James and he went out there in one day with his crew and remove the concrete and repoured the concrete pad, making it level. He matched the concrete pad with an aggregate finish, and it looked like it did when it was new they were very professional and cleaned up after themselves and the tenant was very happy."

"Michael added on to an existing patio and paved a walkway from our driveway to the back yard. He is highly skilled; the finished product is perfect. I'm very pleased! He included everything in the bid and there were no surprise costs. He is mentoring his son Austin into the business, and both men worked on the project. I really appreciated how Michael listened to me. When I wanted a different gutter downspout solution, Michael was quick to make the change. I expressed a concern regarding a sprinkler head. The night before the pour he resolved it, even though they were exhausted and it meant an extra trip to Lowes and digging Into an area that was completely prepped for the pour. I always got the feeling Michael wanted us to be satisfied customers. Austin, his son, was even sweet when our dog walked out onto the wet concrete requiring him to re-finish that area! They nicely cleaned up the area around the pour when finished. I would strongly recommend Michael and his son Austin for your concrete work. They do great work and are very pleasant men of integrity."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Bend, OR

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
