Small jobs welcome
I’ve been working with tools and doing handyman and construction-type jobs for the past 4 years, with plenty of hands-on experience from my teen years doing odd jobs and repairs.\n\nI work in and around the Lawrence, KS area and can travel locally for most projects.\n\nI’m handy with tools and can take care of most small jobs—mounting, fixing, and general repairs around the home.\n\nI take pride in being reliable, friendly, and hardworking—getting the job done right the first time.

"I was extremely please with the work performed. The craftsmanship and attention detail was unbelievable. What i appreciated was the communication through out the process and the fact that Tom Saner always answered my phone calls day or night. They employ people who take pride in their craft and it shows in their work."

Greenlight Construction Company is a full-service remodeling company, whose specialty is kitchens, baths, and consulting. However, we are also able to do just about anything that needs to be repaired or remodeled…everything under the sun (decks, porches, screened in porches), and inside too, everything AND the kitchen sink! ☺ We, also, serve as consultants for folks who just need professional advice when planning a remodel. If you are wishing to manage your own project, call us for a consultation and let Verne’s 30 years of experience work for you! \n\nThis company was started in 2006 by Micah Rolfs, whose degree in Sustainable Community Development led him to the creation of a business, which had, as one of its goals, to provide clients with “Green Bids,” as well as, “Regular Bids”, often less costly, but not as green and sustainable. In 2009, Micah teamed up with an experienced contractor from California, Verne Brien. After Micah’s unexpected death in 2010, Verne has carried on this Family Business with Micah’s mom, LaVetta and his sister, Rachel, who serves as our bookkeeper. \n\nThe focus of the company is to provide quality workmanship, dependable and trustworthy service, and be as “Green” as possible. All leftover materials are either donated to ReStore, who recycles and reuses what they can, or taken to Green Point Recycling. We continue to offer “Green Bids” when the client requests this. \n\nIn California, Verne remodeled elegant Hollywood homes, again specializing in custom kitchens and baths in the greater Los Angeles area. He has an eye for beauty and aesthetics, along with attention to detail. He is personable, perfectionistic, and professional. He has a unique ability to solve even the most challenging of problems, which has won him the favor of many satisfied customers. "If I could give this review zero stars I would. On PDQ’s website they have a quote, “the bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the cheap price is forgotten.“ They put this on their website because their prices are not cheap so they are trying to sell people on the high quality of work that they do. However, in my experience with PDQ, the price was high and the quality was still extremely poor. The owner, Mike, was very personable and likable during the estimate and walk through process. Once he had our business, that all changed. First of all, he promised us several times that once his crew started our job he would not send them to a different job until ours was 100% completed. We were told the project would take about 3 months to complete. It took PDQ 9 full months to complete our job and, on multiple occasions, he sent the entire crew to other jobs so nothing got done on our house for a day (or days) at a time. (Actually, there were several things that didn’t end up getting completed until 5 months after Mike pulled his crew…a full 12 months after they were hired). 7 months in, he came in and did a walk-through with his crew and, before leaving, told them that they had two days to finish the job and then he was sending them on to the next job. The crew had more than two days worth of work left to do so they rushed through as much as they could and still didn’t get everything completed. They had to come back multiple times over the next two months to clean up, touch up, and complete work that was sloppily rushed through or incomplete. In the end, we ended up hiring a professional cleaner to come in and clean the entire house because of the mess they had made and we had to trash several pieces of furniture because they had been destroyed (see pictures). And during this whole process, Mike was very unpleasant to deal with and demanded payment in full, even though the job was not completed. Once the job is done, we noticed the final invoice had been altered from the signed contract with a pencil (Mike had gone back and written in several things after we had all signed). In the end, my spouse just wanted to be done with him so we ended up paying for additional items that were not done to our home (several thousands of dollars). I thought about writing a review at that time but really just wanted to be done and move on. However, we are now less than a year since the “completion“ of our project and have had multiple issues with their work. The floor that was installed in the basement has major damage and issues caused by the poor installation. We contacted a flooring company that sells the brand and had one of the brand installers come to our house who verified that the problem was with the installation, not the product. We have also had a door and a window leak extremely bad when it rains. I have sent pictures and videos to Mike at PDQ to let him know about the problems. I have called, texted, and walked in his office on multiple occasions over the last three months and still have not been able to get him to send a crew to fix the problems. In fact, other than one text message to acknowledge that he was receiving my texts, he won’t even respond or return a phone call. My next step is to contact a lawyer and get the legal system involved. Do NOT be fooled by the show put on by Mike prior to signing a contract. This owner does NOT care about you, your satisfaction, or the quality of his work. He just wants to get paid. Not all pictures and videos from our issues are attached, however, all attached have been provided to Mike on multiple occasions."
