"I hired Majestic Construction to install all the drywall and kitchen cabinets in our basement after a recent flood. Ricardo came out and gave an estimate and was able to start work immediately. They completed the project in less than a week and they even worked with me when I added to the scope of work. Ricardo is very professional and knowledgable, I would definitely hire Majestic Construction again. "

"J Family Design repaired our subfloor, installed drywall, laminate and base boards, and repainted our basement unit living room and kitchen. We needed our project done right away and Dusan had the estimate to me when promised and was able to get workers started a day earlier than initially discussed. We own a vintage building and he clearly explained any issues he ran into and got approval on all expenses before moving forward. The final work looks fantastic! Dusan and his team were professional and friendly. I have already recommended them to friends and family. "

"JR is a blessing for real! I felt like my house was falling apart but from the moment he came to give me a quote, it felt like a win for me. He showed me pictures of his other work and he took the time to have an actual conversation with me about what I needed so I knew I was in good hands from the start. Raphael came a few days after to complete the project, he was nice, neat, and did a phenomenal job. I stopped showing people pictures of my kids and now only show pictures of my drywall! I can not thank them enough and I am so excited for future projects!"

"Excellent work! I can’t say enough good things about FS Drywall and Painting! Sergio and his team are extremely professional. From the initial visit to look at the project, he was the only person that actually walked through inspecting the walls looking for any areas to patch. On the job, he was punctual, EXTREMELY thorough and clean (made sure everything not being painted was covered and protected), and the painting was flawless!!! Finally his quote was very fair - his was lower than others AND included the paint, whereas others didn’t. Sergio and his team were an excellent find! Thank you Hone Advisors. "

"We contacted Reno to quote a backyard project that included concrete work, landscaping and a new fence installation. At every step the Project Manager, Jesus, was extremely communicative, responsive and helpful. He guided the project to a speedy conclusion and made sure the work was done exactly to our satisfaction - and at a really high quality. Even when I was willing to overlook a small misunderstanding by the crew, Jesus insisted that they would re-do it exactly as we wanted - and then they did, very quickly. We saw progress every day and we were kept up to date too, which is sometimes even more important. We had them remove concrete, install new sidewalks, install a new fence and do some landscaping on our yard. For the landscaping they had helpful advice including a better water drainage approach that I had not thought of, and now water does not pool in our yard like it used to during heavy rains. For what it is worth, several of my neighbors asked for their information because they liked what they saw, and the crews were always really respectful of them. I am sure it was not their biggest job, but they always acted like we were a priority. I would highly recommend Reno and Jesus M. in particular. "

Ideas & Inspiration from Chicago Drywall & Plaster Contractors

Chicago Drywall Installation

In and around Chicago, drywall installation is a part of nearly every new construction or remodel that takes place. In fact, drywall is one of the most popular construction materials in the country, and for good reason, too. It's less expensive than wood paneling, more attractive and more versatile than cinder block, and far less messy than the plaster it was designed to compete with. Though not without its limitations, drywall has easily overtaken all other materials for the construction of interior walls. If you're planning to do some remodeling in Chicago, drywall installation is something you'll most likely have to deal with, and having a good understanding of the process before you begin (and drywall's benefits and drawbacks as a material) is a good idea.

Pros and Cons
As far as benefits go, drywall has them to spare. It's relatively easy to put up, comparatively cheap to purchase, and is versatile enough to put almost anywhere. In most scenarios, you'd be hard pressed to find a better choice for your new home interior than what you can get with drywall installation. Chicago residents with a "do-it-yourself" attitude will also be happy to know that most aspects of drywall installation are very DIY friendly.

Unfortunately, there are a few things that make drywall a bad choice in some scenarios. When exposed to excessive moisture, drywall can literally crumble. This makes it a poor material for places like bathrooms. Additionally, it is not the strongest material in the world. It can dent or puncture under even moderate impact. A fast moving doorknob or remote control (that's right, sports fans) can definitely damage your drywall, though repairs are generally inexpensive.

DIY Installation
Handymen or women looking for a challenging but doable do-it-yourself project will find a friend in drywall installation. Chicago residents will find that they will most likely save some money by doing part or all of this project themselves, and often won't have to purchase or rent too many pieces of equipment they don't already own. In places like garages or workspaces where function far outweighs form, most people with even a moderate amount of handiness should be able to do a passable job putting up their own drywall.

Drywall Finishing
This is where a professional hand can really make a difference. While it's fine to save a buck or two in the early stages of drywall installation (and, though it's not Manhattan, the price of living is still no joke in Chicago), drywall finishing is a pretty tricky job that even someone with a bit of experience might leave to the pros. You can find many resources at your local library, on television, or on the internet that will make the finishing process look deceptively simple, but when you try it for the first time, there will be no question that this aspect of drywall installation is no walk in the park.

If you want to attempt this yourself, make sure to get some practice in an out-of-the-way spot. With the tape and joint compound necessary to finish drywall, the job can get messy very quickly. You'll definitely want to make your first few attempts in a garage or closet before you attempt to finish the drywall in your living room!

Prices of Installation and Repair
We've seen Windy City installation prices ranging from as low as $900 to as high as $6,000, depending on the size and complexity of the job. This means that the total cost can go well above the national average of just more than $2,000 in and around Chicago. Drywall finishing is, again, the most difficult and technique-heavy aspect of the process, so you can cut costs considerably by hanging the drywall yourself and only calling in the pros at the end. As for drywall repair, Chicago residents can expect their bills to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $200 to $600, though we've seen a few exceptionally complicated jobs cost as much as $1,200.
