"Of the estimates I received, Bone Dry Roofing was the only company to look at my whole roof and in my attic. Took photos of all the issues and presented us with two estimates, and by far, having all of the roof vents repaired and sealed properly, even though their estimate on the leaking vent was middle range, made our decision to hire them a no brainer. The work was performed by two very skilled craftsmen, professional, engaging, and sociable. Even repaired some vinyl siding at no cost. Great company and worth the call out."

"2016 Nov John came to check leaking area and suggested to replace the whole roof. He promised after getting new roof, there will no more water leak. Even chimney, flashing,..everything. He told me no worry. I trusted him with new roof replacement in Nov. 2017 Jan, water leak badly, he came back to check and do water test. find a hold under flashing. They fixed. 2017 Apr, leak again, John came back to check, also owner came as well. They said maybe masonry with hole. They refer a guy to do some work, $2000. 2018 March, leak again, can't count how many times they back. They send a chimney guy, he suggest to take out whole chimney and rebuild it, estimate $20,000. After this, they change attitude to sympathetic, just said we have done what we can do. Of course, we didn't do it. I hired another Chimney company to do level II inspection. They told me the roof edge miss some piece call drain edge. According to Indiana law, that is necessary part. We asked ABC to fix it, they said we didn't check this item when we install the new roof. Just wonder how many people should know they need to check this item. I argued with them and asked them come back to add drain edge. FINALLY, no more leak !! Thank God! John is a very great salesman, Sonja is very helpful at beginning. But no body in ABC roofing can find the root cause for 18 month. Maybe we don't need to replace the whole roof at beginning, just need to add Drain Edge. We spend 22000 for new roof and suffer 18 month. Not sure this is our good luck or bad luck to have ABC roofing."

"To our delight they " Exceeded our expectations!" The weather was calling for rain the week they were to do our roof so George had two crews (17 guys) show up on a Wed., to complete our 2,200 sq ft house roof and small two stall horse barn and small shed in ONE DAY! He wanted to beat the upcoming bad weather. We did an upgrade and went with "Deck Armor" instead of tar paper roofing material and loved the product. Recommend that also!! Amazing product that improves life of roof and is 600 times stronger than felt paper or tar paper. The workers cleaned the gutters and cleaned up leaves off back deck and left the place better than they found it. George came out at end of day to inspect the work just as roofers were cleaning up and getting ready to go home. We were surprised he did that and talked with us about the project and how the workers did a few things. We only found two nails after they were done. Very professional from start to finish! I found out they also do other small jobs like cleaning gutters and more! We will not waste our time calling anyone else but this company the next time we need a roofing project done and have recommended them to friends and co-workers. They were inline or cheaper than other estimates we received, especially when you use there 5% coupon off that is on this site! Our bill didn't reflect that but I sent in coupon and a note saying I deducted the discount from payment. They billed us after job completed and never charged anything upfront. It was such a pleasure dealing with this professional company and they have pictures posted on Facebook of our roof. It turned out great. It was also nice to have them do it all in one day and done!! Amazing!! Neighbors couldn't believe it either. We did the weathered wood dimensional shingle and this company had the best warranty I could find. A 5 year on leaking, labor and material and a one time 20yr transferable warranty. If you ever sell that is a huge selling point also. We have dealt with a lot of contractors over the years and when we built a new home years ago and have to say this was the most stress free, smooth project we have ever done!! Thanks again and keep up the great work!!"

"It went great! First they were very responsive in coming out and checking out our property and giving us a fair quote. The team we had worked very hard and was very friendly. We really appreciated all the before and after pictures since we had no plans to actually go up on the roof to double check that everything was done right. They showed us video of what our roof looked like before so we understood what the quote included and why we needed to consider having it fixed. They also helped us spot an unknown problem in our attic that we did not have access to before (our roof had a major dip that was caused by fire damage several years back that we did not know about before we bought the place). They re-enforced the joists in the attic and gave us access to our attic."

"They did an excellent job. We were in a rush to get our house up on the market for sale. Rock Roofing was able to install our roof within a week of purchasing the Angie's list deal (even though it rained for 3 of the possible installation days)! The tore off the old shingles, installed the new shingles, painted all of the vents to match, installed new flashing around the chimney, and completely cleaned up the mess. <br />"

"<br /> Due to the recent hailstorm, I contacted Carlon along with 2 other roofing companies to quote on my roof repair. The estimator was on time for the meeting and that is where things fell apart. The estimator was unwilling to provide an estimate and seemed put off by the fact that I would not simply sign the contract and "let them handle the negotiations with the insurance company". He then went on to inform me that I was going to get "screwed" by my insurance company regardless of what they were willing to pay. Additionally he stated that the only way I was going to get a "quality" roof was to use Carlon and not by getting quotes and repairs from "storm chasers". I mentioned that I had obtained quotes from 2 other long term Louisville based companies and he said they must be using inferior materials. When I kept probing on why he wouldn't write a quote, he told me that he didn't need to as they already had 1,000 jobs booked due to the hailstorm.  I then proceeded to ask him if he would have written a quote if had come a week before the hailstorm and acknowledged that yes they were writing quotes prior to the storm. The ironic thing is that he never even bothered to take a look at the roof. All he was interested in was getting the contract signed. <br /> As you will note from my review, I didn't rate price, quality or responsiveness as it never progressed beyond the sales call. <br /> Bottom line, I can not do business with someone that will not even write a proposal or quote for a job and then expect me to sign off and let them negotiate on my behalf without knowing what they are charging. <br /> <br /> <strong>Updated 1/2/13<br /> </strong>I just wanted to update my initial review of Carlon Roofing. After my review, Jack Carlon contacted me and personally came out and wrote up a detailed estimate of the work to be completed and he took the time to review some upgrades to the existing roof that would be beneficial in the long run. He also assisted with the insurance company review of the required work and caught several items the adjustor had missed. He also appoligized for the negative experience I had with their sales person. All of my dealings with Jack have been very positive and my revised rating reflect his "damage control" efforts after the initial experience. The new roof looks great and everyting has been very positive. I ultimately rated the overall experience as a "B" which was upgraded from the initial "F". If it weren't for his sales person, Carlon Roofing would have recieved an "A". <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Bethlehem, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
