"I was looking for a reliable contractor to remodel my bathroom and I found most reliable of them, Professional Builders & Remodeling! It wasn't a very big project but they did such a great job that I would definitely hire them for some bigger project I would like to do on my house. Highest recommendation for this contractor!"

"He provided the name of the engineer he would use for the structural considerations and the draftsman for the submission of plans to the City of LA for all permit requirements. As soon as the permits were issued he began work immediately. I was on site for the entire project and was extremely well pleased with the workers used, from framers to drywaller, all were excellent.  He kept me informed of all details and progress of the job.  The city inspections went smoothly.  Adam also offered decorating suggestions and referrals for flooring.  I will certainly use Adam for any future projects. <br />"

"We hired Tom to complete a 110 SF addition to our small home to add a bathroom to our master bedroom, as well as several other renovations: replace the roof on house, garage and patio; remove an interior wall to open up the kitchen; replace tile in the kitchen; replace a sliding glass door with French doors; exterior painting on home and garage; replace several windows with retrofit vinyl windows; replace our gas water heater; and painting of dining room and kitchen. The 110 SF addition ultimately resulted in a completely new master bedroom and bathroom, and I’ve attached some pictures of the final result. I obtained construction plans from a third party prior to hiring Tom, with Tom pulling permits for the approved plans and completing all construction thereafter. Initial cost was $91k and 3-4 months to complete. I’ll update cost when it’s wrapped completely, but only a few changes due to unforeseen issues. The job began mid-October 2018 and complete February 2019, so right on schedule. Most of the work has been done for the last month, but the rainy season caused some delays. Overall I appreciated Tom’s honesty, professionalism and responsiveness. His project manager Adam was involved later in the project and was similarly professional and responsive in all my dealings with him. All the subs hired by Tom were great, respectful of our home and easy to work with. My wife and I are detail oriented people, and while I’m sure Tom and Adam may have been annoyed at times with specific questions or requests we had during the project, they never let it show and were always willing to explain things and meet us to go over something if needed. We solicited five bids for our project and while Tom wasn’t the cheapest, he was not the most expensive either, and was still a good deal overall. His proposal was more detailed than most and he was open to adding additional detail to items as we requested. He provided a ton of references and my wife and I contacted several of them. All had great things to say and gave us great advice. One advised us that Tom at times makes assumptions about what his client would know. Since Tom is very patient and willing to answer as many questions as you have, it’s important that you speak up and ask questions, so as to avoid issues that may arise. Tom was good at pushing us to buy items needed during construction (e.g., flooring, fixtures, paint colors, etc.), but timing purchases can sometimes be challenging even so, due to timing of subs, inspections, and weather. Tom and his subs were very flexible through it all. I would definitely hire Tom again in the future should we have another big job to complete, and will recommend him to any friends and family in need of similar services. I’ve included some pictures of the master bedroom and bathroom and the new French doors. Poor weather at the moment, otherwise would include some of the exterior, which looks great as well. Will add later if possible."

"First and foremost, Pete and his crew are all good guys, courteous, pleasant to talk with, and very hard working. No doubt about it, they know their stuff! Their concrete work is second to none. The finished product is some of the best I've seen. There were two minor issues. One, they damaged a Honeysuckle that was goring over the water spigot trying to access the water spigot. Partly my fault, Knowing how much water it takes for concrete finishing work, I should have pointed it out on the first day. I had to hack down almost all of bush/vines to free the wire trestle to bend the trestle back into shape. Also while they were rooting around for the hose bib they knocked off of the control box for my auto-watering system. A quick reconnect of the control box and all was well. The Honeysuckle has recovered nicely. So... Initially frustrating, in the long run, no harm. Two is he quoted me $3,800.00 for the job. On the day before the pour he told me he ordered a higher grade of concrete and asked for $200.00 more. Now, from my perspective (both professionally and personally) an additional 5.5% on a change order is not unexpected and reasonable so I said fine, no problem. That ate the tip I had planned on giving them anyway so it didn't cost me any more than I planned. And I got a concrete pad I can park an M1A2 Abrams on should the need arise. I highly recommend them. In fact, when I can afford it, I will call Pete back to do my driveway... This time I'll show him where the hose bib is from the front. :-)"

"Efraim and his crew were amazing!  I have done a lot of remolding and landscape work over the years and it's rare to find that special combination of professionalism, skill, honesty, and good communication.  They cleaned up beautifully each day, and were very careful of my plants, making sure they were watered by hand when the irrigation lines had to be moved.  Efraim is a good communicator, and made sure I understood what was going on at every stage of the project.  He really knows what he is doing, and best of all - he enjoys his work,  making it a pleasure to do business with him.  I will use Egald concrete again on future projects. <br />"

"We had a "garden" style 4" thick slumpstone block wall across our backyard at our Simi Valley home that had shifted on it's foundation, and was leaning outward away from our property. A neighbor that shares the wall with us got 4 quotes from local wall contractors. After the contractor we chose to do the work backed out due to a family problem, I searched for a new wall contractor, as I didn't like the other 3 bids. I am extremely happy that I found Robert Palacios Masonry. When Bob came the very next day to view the wall and give us a quote, I knew right away that Bob was the right person to rebuild our wall. None of the other 4 contractors knew what type of wall we had, nor what was the best way to restore it. Only Bob recognized right away that we had a "Proto II" wall, which is a light weight, quickly built wall that is built without rebar, and instead held together in a "post-tension" manner using threaded rods, and only mortar between the blocks. Bob told me this type of wall should not have been built on a slope grade, nor had any dirt or trees up against it. A previous owner had put in a 2' tall planter box with trees. Bad idea by them! Bob rebuilt the lower portion of the wall using 8" wide blocks, making it a true retaining wall that extends just above the planter. This saved us from having to demolish and remove our stone planter box. He epoxied in rebar posts on 24" centers inside the 8" blocks, and filled all of them with mortar cement. The top portion was rebuilt using the 4" wide blocks that his crew carefully saved when the wall was dismantled. This made the newly rebuilt top portion blend into the surrounding walls, so it didn't have a "new wall" look that unpleasantly stuck out. We also had a portion of our side wall rebuilt at the same time, and in the same manner I just described. Both look great, and as if they are the original walls. Bob and his crew are top notch professionals that were on time, clean, courteous to our adjacent neighbors, and did the job exactly as agreed upon in the time quoted, and at the price stated. No ups and extras. You could not find a better wall construction, rebuild, and repair company than Robert Palacios Masonry. Would hire them again in a heartbeat. Thanks, Bob!"

FAQs for concrete flatwork repair & resurface projects in Big Bear City, CA

When evaluating whether patching can address your concrete blemishes, it’s important to assess the extent of the damage. Minor issues such as small cracks or chipped areas may be effectively repaired with patching techniques that restore the surface’s appearance. However, if you notice widespread deterioration, significant cracks, or structural weakening, resurfacing is recommended as a more durable, long‑term solution. A thorough evaluation by a concrete specialist can help determine the best course of action for restoring your concrete to its optimal condition.

The optimal time to resurface your concrete driveway is late spring. This period benefits from warm temperatures and softened ground conditions following winter’s freeze‑thaw cycles, ensuring that the new overlay bonds securely and matures to a durable finish. Resurfacing at this time also enhances your property's safety and curb appeal. Engage a concrete professional to schedule your project during this ideal season.
