"I contacted Jordan at Advanced Concrete and he came out to give me an estimate in August 2012. Things didn't work out for me to proceed that fall, so I contacted him in June and we set up a time in mid-July. A day or two beforehand, he came out to the house and we discussed my plan and made a few modifications to finalize the project. I was very pleased with his suggestions and we were able to come up with the best possible plan for "my" project. There was nothing "cookie-cutter" about my project. Since my original plan to do the excavating ourselves didn't pan-out, Jordan didn't hesitate to fill-in and do the excavating and I was very pleased with the job he operating the bobcat that was needed for the task. On pour day, his wife came and helped with the finishing touches. Throughout the project he asked for my input, so that I was a satisfied customer in the end. I plan to use Jordan/Advanced Concrete again this summer for another concrete project. I was very pleased with the project, Jordan's professionalism and his ability to meet my specific needs."

"Dave Jensen and his son Dave built and expanded an amazing deck. This project started after I had my portch rebuilt about one Month ago. Dave handled all the details, planning, lumber delivery, and installation of 2 Helical piles for proper support. This deck is built out of composite material with hidden fasteners. ALL the railing, 4x4s, 2x2s, 1x2s etc. in the picture are Cedar. This was done by Dave and we stayed within the budget. Anyone who know a little about wood knows Cedar is more expensive, but also a better choice and better weather resistant. Daves decades of finish carpentry work can be seen in the finished product. Both Dave and his Son Dave have attention to detail, take pride in their work, and show integrity. Its going to very difficult to find someone to take the time and build a quality project like this. My wife and I will be contacting Jensen Construction for our next project. Pictures to be attached soon. Thanks Guys."

"Jeff from 1-800-asphalt replied promptly. He first notified us not to be alarmed to see a man surveying our driveway. He then submitted a 4 option plan based on what could be done 3-4 days later. His bid was the most detailed and comprehensive. My husband and I did not meet his staff and asked if he or one of his staff could come out and walk the driveway with us to explain the bid. He was very accommodating and came up himself. He was very friendly, professional, courteous and informative. We were very impressed and ultimately chose him after reviewing the bids. ( Note: 3 other companies never returned our call). Jeff kept us informed every step of the way. Our driveway was repaved 1 week later on the first sunny day. They did a beautiful job! I would highly recommend them and use their services again."

"Scheduling appointment was easy and fast. <br /> Price quoted was better than competitors by about 2,000. <br /> After work began, it was determined that additional fill would be required. That made the price more comparable w// other estimates. <br /> It was well worth the price. Quality job. Owner was one site for major of the job and he was very accommodating. <br />"

"This is the 2nd review I am posting. The 1st was submitted shortly after work was complete. This review is approx. 3 mos. post-project. Although GMG noted that there may be some puddling on the new surface, the result I have is extreme. It was not noticeable immediately and failed attempts to follow up with GMG explains the late 2nd review. I have several spots on my new driveway that are uneven and gather water after rain. One, directly in front of my garage door, is esp large and problematic. I have contacted GMG on 5 separate occasions asking for a return visit and recommendations. While I have recv'd replies to all of my emails, no visit has been made and no suggestions for a remedy offered. As noted in my earlier review, GMG is a large commercial paving co. It may be that small residential driveways like mine are used as "filler" in between larger projects. As such, it appears small contracts are prioritized accordingly."

"Our ice damming problem from the winter of 2012 turned into a home insurance claim and over the course of several months, we had nearly a dozen contractors come out to give us bids and offer their ideas of what was truly causing the problem (the attached neighbors' original 30-year-old roof? Compromised decking? Ice dams? No one could be sure). Each bid was enormous and a few included actually ripping off our existing roof (only 7 years old), raising it a few inches, and replacing it (~$20k). We got a lawyer, thinking we'd need to sue the uncooperative landlord next door for the problems we thought his bad roof was causing, as well as the mold damage along the joint wall. It was an absolute nightmare, and it looked like there was no way insurance was going to cover even half of the repairs. We were at wit's end and living in a half-demoed home with a <em>E.T.</em>-esque mold quarantine room that dominated the main floor. <br /> Until we called in Jordan. Jordan was the only contractor who actually inspected the entire house and took a look in the crawl space and the attic. Although we do in fact have a hot roof, get ice dams, and the neighbors' roof is in awful shape, Jordan believed the real cause of all the leaking was woefully inadequate ventilation. We had no idea that our dryer vent wasn't routed out from the crawl space, so we were literally pumping gallons of water down there on a weekly basis. Our attic ducting was also in sad shape, bent in some places, and gallons of water was collecting in it. Jordan has a background in building science and was able to explain everything in a way that made perfect sense. He spent a few hours at our home, and drew us pictures and answered a litany of tedious questions, never once making us feel like he had somewhere else to be. <br /> Once we agreed on the work and the cost, we had to wait a couple of weeks to begin (busy summer season). However, when they arrived, Jordan's crew made quick work of restoring our downstairs with new insulation and drywall, re-venting the crawl space and the attic, installing a new attic fan, and leveling the deck. My favorite part, however, was the sound deadening they installed in our master bedroom. Our master shares a wall with the neighbors' master, and nearly every day we would endure talking, snoring, and other unpleasant noises that made us feel that they were more roommates than neighbors (I don't even want to know what they could hear coming from our side). I researched extensively and chose an alternative and relatively inexpensive product, Green Glue. Although Jordan's crew had never used it before and (understandably) had no faith that it would give us the results we wanted, they carefully read the instructions and installed it correctly. Two months on, it has finally cured, so no more mid-range noises and NO MORE SNORING! Less than $1,000 was spent fixing this problem. Success! <br /> Since the repairs have been completed, we've been able to use Jordan as an advisor of sorts on some other work around the house, and he is great about getting us names and numbers of reputable contractors. We will also be using him later this year to do an evaluation/utility upgrades under the Alaska Home Energy Rebate Program. <br /> Bottom line: we had a seemingly insurmountable problem and an extremely tight budget. Jordan and his team came in and fixed it, the right way, for far less than we thought we'd have to spend. (We were also able to afford the sound deadening - not part of the insurance claim.) We feel like we have a brand new house that works the way it should, and we didn't have to sue the neighbors (what a relief!). For as long as we live in Alaska, Jordan will be our go-to guy for all home repairs. <br />"

"They are great and that is the reason I had them come out for the second time.  They did excellent work and their price was good as well as really competitive.  Everything about them was pretty good.  I am really happy with them and I would recommend them to others.  They are the only company I would use again in the future since everything turns out really good all the time I use them."

FAQs for concrete flatwork repair & resurface projects in Big Lake, AK

When evaluating whether patching can address your concrete blemishes, it’s important to assess the extent of the damage. Minor issues such as small cracks or chipped areas may be effectively repaired with patching techniques that restore the surface’s appearance. However, if you notice widespread deterioration, significant cracks, or structural weakening, resurfacing is recommended as a more durable, long‑term solution. A thorough evaluation by a concrete specialist can help determine the best course of action for restoring your concrete to its optimal condition.

The optimal time to resurface your concrete driveway is late spring. This period benefits from warm temperatures and softened ground conditions following winter’s freeze‑thaw cycles, ensuring that the new overlay bonds securely and matures to a durable finish. Resurfacing at this time also enhances your property's safety and curb appeal. Engage a concrete professional to schedule your project during this ideal season.
