"It was an interesting experience.  <br /> My initial appointment with Rick (the owner)  to review the job. He was on time to the agreed appointment. I thought it went well. I provided details on where I wanted the gate installed and agreed on a design for the gate.  <br /> A few days later, I received a call that they were ready to go and I told them to proceed. I came home that day to find the gate post in the wrong location. Not good. After some communication, the gate post was ripped out and I reiterated my instruction on where the gate was to go. That was the last I saw of Rick. <br />    <br /> However, the reputation of this company was saved, in my opinion by the follow up and attentiveness of the next program manager - Cristi. She was very helpful and drove the project to completion, despite some shenanigans from San Jose City Permit people.   Very happy with the gate and its operation. <br /> Further update 12-08-14 - after a few days of rain, the wooden panels on the gate started to swell and the gate fell apart!!! I contacted the company and was told I was a priority and this would be attended to as soon as possible.  As of 12-30, nothing has been done to correct this.  <br /> Appalling.  <br /> <br />"

"We have never seen such quality work.  Our retaining wall holds up a steep hillside.  Two prior retaining walls had failed.  I know the retaining wall that LEBEC designed and constructed will never fail.   LEBEC designed and built a special keyway retaining wall (like a keel on a boat).  The wall was reinforced with 5/8 inch thick rebar that was completely tied together and that also had "J bars".  They also used a special wicking type material on the back side of the wall to carry water away from the wall.  They also used perforated pipe wrapped in filter fabric and 3/8 crushed drain rock behind the wall.  I have never seen such excellent construction, even on very large construction projects.  Armando was the supervisor, and he was working on the project the entire time.  Armando has 30 years of experience and it showed.  Everything was done in a smart and efficient way.  Armando and his crew had to drive a very long way in Bay Area traffic to get to our home but they still arrived early and worked hard all day long. Armando is bilingual so it was very easy to communicate with him.  Armando and his crew became our friends and we were happy to see them come each day.  They would always leave our home and yard neat and clean when they left each day.  We were so happy with their work that we have signed a second contract with LEBEC for a second retaining wall. <br />"

"Darrin fixed an increasingly problematic front door mortise lock. Works swell now; it was a toughie. He also fixed two other outside door locks that had been iffy. Prior repairman who had installed the locks and doors didn't do a great job. Now we have working and locking doors. Spiffy. I thought the price was very reasonable. He was professional and knowledgeable. Will hire him again for any lock issues. I wish I had done this over a year ago instead of dreading it (afraid we would have to replace the locks or doors)."

"Mr Lopez did a walkthrough and pointed out the loose fence posts and said they needed to be replaced. Gave us price options for 4x4 and 4x6 replacement posts. We went with the 4x6 since we felt they would be able to support the fence portions that were not replaced, and the 4x6 looks fine. When they took out the old fence posts (many of which were put in 3-4 years ago by another company) we could see that some were rotted through, and some of the 7' posts were sunk only 6" into the ground. So we are very glad we replaced them. In all they replaced 21 posts plus the 12' section of fence. The replaced fence and gate look great. Mr. Lopez' crew could replace most posts without going into the neighbors' yards, which was convenient. It took 2-3 days to repair all the fences , and the gate was installed later. He and his crew were polite and professional. There was a minor issue with the gate being too narrow (measuring issue), but they put in a shim to correct for that. It still looks great. We definitely recommend Lopez Fencing."
