"Steve Solberg and his crew were great! We wanted to re-roof our new house prior to moving in and he was able to start two days after giving an estimate and was done within two days. With the uncertainty of city (Torrance) services during the pandemic, I was glad that Steve was on top of making sure the permitting and inspections could be done promptly. Fortunately, the city inspector came in the morning the day after the old roof was removed and bad wood replaced, so they could immediately install all the shingles, drip edges, flashing and low-profile dormer vents, and paint where needed the same day. They went the extra mile by doing some of the work that my HVAC contractor failed to finish in order to pass the first inspection. The crew made sure to cover our pool with plastic so no debris would fall in and they cleaned up very nicely after they were done (1 nail in a planter and a bit of plastic and small pieces of wood in the grass, so far - not bad). I walked the roof with Steve prior to and after the roof was installed and everything looked fantastic. What a sleek looking roof we now have and no doubt a vast improvement over our old, patched-up roof. This was my first time getting a roof done, so Steve explained everything very clearly and provided valuable information, such as how the flashing in key spots will divert water. I appreciate that Steve was very communicative and available by phone or text. Steve clearly takes pride in his work and I highly recommend Accurate Roofing Solutions!"

"Adam and his work crew were excellent. We had a small home roof project that required the old shingles, underlayment and metal stripped from the roof and replaced. The total job required 22 squares of shingles. Adam and his crew, stripped the old roofing and replaced it with new D-metal, ice shield, felt and shingles in 1 day. They also installed 10 new roof vents, 8 new boot jacks, new valley metal and installed gutters. All in one day! They did a great job of cleanup after the job, not a nail or piece of shingle found in the month since the job was completed. I was totally impressed by the completed job and the product provided. I cannot say enough about the job they did and the speed in which it was completed. I will recommend Adam to everyone whom asks for a roofer. Best roofing contractor I have ever seen."

"The project went well, they were here when they said they would be they cleaned up after themselves. Except for one small item, they left nails on top of our motor home roof this is not the reason for the c rating. The reason I give them a fair rating is due to the service after the installation. A year or so after the work was done we realized they left gaps in the roof line. Due to these gaps squirrels made a home in our attic. When I realized, I called an squirrel relocation company to come out and get rid of the squirrels as they can cause significant damage. I called LaFever and asked them to come out assuming this was an oversight. They informed me this was standard procedure, they leave these gaps all the the time and that is would be an additional charge of $500 do fix this. Terry was not interested in helping with this and almost condescending in his tone, "We have been doing this for over 20 years and have always done this". I would recommend to anyone if you decide to use this company that you verify there are no gaps prior to them leaving your property."

"Mandy did an amazing job of assessing my roof. She showed me the condition of my roof. She told me that the damage was only cosmetic and didn't need any repairs. I was amazed with her honesty and she didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. If I do need repairs I will call Mandy."

"I was very happy with the repair work done on our roof, by Madison Roofing. There had apparently been an ice dam several years ago, and the repair done then, was not done properly. I noticed a similar repair that was done on a home in my neighborhood, so I knocked on the door to ask who had done it. This repair although only seen from street level, appeared to stand far above what I had on my home. The material used actually was a close match to his existing shingles. Mine was WHITE! While I was on the roof, I also had noticed the outlet for my dryer was plastic, and of course was cracked all the way around. Madison replaced that with a vent that was not only metal, but was sized right for proper venting flow. This is very important in a vertically placed dryer vent. I only rated a B on response because it did take a while to get on the schedule, but I am finding this to be true with all trades here locally. There simply is a lot of work in this area right now, and one should not expect anything to be done the next day. I have no doubt however, if this had been a serious issue with the roof actually leaking, Madison would have been here promptly to repair the problem. Thanks Madison, the issue is resolved."

"I am very pleased with them. Chris returned my calls promptly and was thorough and professional. They worked with my schedule and were super nice. When a window screen got damaged during shingle removal, they fixed it immediately with no fuss. Chris invited me up a ladder, well secure, to inspect the damage from the old roof, and was informative about options. They did a great job working with all the valleys and oddities of my roof, including taking down an old smoke stack and repairing the hole. Chris came back to check on my roof after it was installed and did an inspection. He then made sure that some minor paint touch ups were done. They cleaned up so well that I haven't found any debris any where. The house looks fantastic now and I feel much better about its overall structure. <br />"

"Chavez Roofing did an excellent job on a metal roof installation on my house in 2022. The job was a 2000 square foot, removal of cedar shakes, then the metal installation. Caleb and his crew were prompt, good at communicating the progress, and left the finished job clean. I highly recommend this outfit and plan to contact them for my future roof projects."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Boise, ID

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
