"Gilberto and his father were fantastic! We had a drawing of what we wanted our patio to look like and they brought it to life. Their work ethic is top notch and the attention to detail, coupled with their kindness, and thorough work is what sets them apart. an example of that is how they encountered unexpected rain on the day of the final pour. They stayed at our home until 9pm making sure everything was finalized with the concrete pour. They constructed a 40ft x100ft tent so that they could work and protect the concrete during the downpour. their work ethic is fabulous. We will use them again in the spring for our sidewalk and driveway. I would not"

"Pave hawk recently completed a concrete pad addition for our Camp trailer and felt compelled to share of our experience. From our first conversation until the completion of the project, Terry & Leon were professional, respectful, & honest! The quality of work was exceptional and we were more than satisfied with the finished product! Terry made accommodations to fit us in and communicated with each step of the process re-assuring us that we made the correct choice. If you are looking for someone who will put in the time to do the job right, Pave Hawk will do just that & more! I would recommend them to anyone, Jeff Franklin"

"David the owner was great. He was very processional from our initial meeting thru the entire repair to the final cleanup. He explained the whole process before and during. He did everything he said he would and a little more. He showed up on time for each meeting. His company is very professional including texts and emails. I will definitely use again."

"AOTC did a great job putting in a 'fairy garden' on the north side of my house. From my first meeting with Kam to the final product (finished up very late - thank you Camden!) I am highly pleased and got exactly what I wanted. Kam saw my vision immediately, and he, Kai and Camden put in stepping stones, a flagstone patio, and beautiful plants to create a rustic retreat from the urban heat. I can highly recommend this company, and will definitely call them again for my next landscaping project. Communication once the job started was excellent, the team worked very hard, were pleasant and professional, high attention to detail and a very fair price."

"WG Concrete did an amazing job on our patio room footing, foundation and slab. They were accommodating of our schedule, offering suggestions on structural and finish work. Justin, the owner, is experienced and knowledgeable and very easy to work with. The end result was exactly what we had envisioned! I highly recommend WG Concrete!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Boise, ID

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
