"Leon and his crew did a great job. On time. Careful and safe. Worked hard and cleaned up afterwards. I now have lots of firewood. I am now hiring him to cut a fallen tree and another dead one this week."

"We bought a neglected, 40-year old house late last year, so we've used a lot of various services/contractors. Most have been ok at best.  However, Mike Cole and his crew get an A+ in my book. He came out on time for my estimate, answered all my questions, and gave me a competitive bid for a concrete hot tub pad.  Then, his crew came out on time, did the work as expected, cleaned up their mess, and left our yard as they found it.  Sounds simple, but they folks have been one of the few companies to simply do as they say they are going to do.  We will definitely be using them again for our next project (hopefully a 30x40 garage pad). <br />"

"David called me back the day I contacted him and met me the next day.  His bid on the work was right in line with the Big Deal of the day although more since the patio was larger and the back steps and pier reinforcement were add-ons.  David was helpful in making design suggestions including ways to enhance the accessibility to both the rest of the yard and the new patio.  Workers came as scheduled, completed the work in two days, and we are DELIGHTED with the new outdoor space. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Bonham, TX

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
