"I needed a vent pipe rerouted in my attic, as the original design was not installed to let the water drain. Mike from Tom Drexler called to let me know he was on his way, gave me the estimate before starting work, and explained what he was doing and why. He was very knowledgeable and fixed the pipes quickly and made sure it was working properly before leaving. I was very satisfied with the service. The price was more than I was expecting but I am happy to have this fixed, as it was causing leaks in my kitchen ceiling and I should not have any other issues. I will be requesting Mike for any future plumbing issues."

"Six years ago I had 15 members of our family scheduled here for Thanksgiving dinner. It was the day before they were to arrive, and...the toilet stopped up. What to do?? I got out the Yellow Pages and started calling. Venhoff was the only plumber that answered. They came right out and the toilet was fixed in 30 minutes. I thought, well now, they will really charge me a high price because of the holiday. Not at all. They only charged me for the time they were here. I kept the bill, and when we needed a plumber here again today, I called them and they came right out. Again, the charges were really reasonable. What a find! A plumber who takes pride in their work and does a great job! <br>"

"This is the e-mail I sent to the management at JHP explaining my experience. They sent someone out the next week to test my water heater at no charge to me and replaced my shower head with a generic 2 GPM which worked well enough. I put a brand new 2.5 GPM head on and it lasts about 30 Min before going luke warm. This is apparently enough to pass all the GE tests, but I find it unacceptable for the $890 price. JHP has not attempted to contact me since, nor have I them; it's good enough I guess. I WILL NOT be using JHP in the future nor will I EVER buy another GE APPLIANCE. <br /> and quot;Angela can verify that I left a message while you were out on surgery and I have left at least 4 messages for you at various times over the past couple weeks since you have returned from surgery. (I’m glad you are doing ok.) This is all in regards to my 50 Gallon water heater’s lack of performance. When I called you for the first time in mid-January. I stated that my current 48 gallon A.O. Smith water heater used to be great, but after 9 years it only lasts for 1 shower. You confirmed that it sounded like a problem. It could be sediment buildup or a dip tube and you offered to try and repair for $400ish or I could just replace it. I opted to replace it given its age with your company over your less expensive competitors (Lowe’s) because of your candid demeanor and your profound promise that you and Home Depot stand behind their products and that you offer the best service around. I liked you, so I spent $890 to have a multiple shower household again. Your installers were fast and friendly. From the very first shower my wife took, she complained to me. We have timed it multiple times, it only takes 18 min on a 2.5 gpm shower head with a typical hot/cold mixture to go cold. You may remember that I called you shortly after our Jan 15th installation with this complaint and you stated that the ground water could be colder than average causing this; and you acted flabbergasted when I told you we have 2.5 gpm shower heads and that we needed a 1.5 gpm shower heads. I gave it some time for the weather to warm up before I started looking for a 1.5 gpm shower heads. Home Depot and Lowes do not sell any as the industry standard appears to be 2.5 gpm. I called you again to discuss the issue and you told me to call GE to do some troubleshooting and request them to send your staff out to test it. This came as quite a shock because of your overwhelming promise in the beginning to “stand behind your products”. Regardless, I called them and you were not listed as one of the authorized repair companies. I called and spoke with Angela who also confirmed, you are no longer one of their authorized repair companies. This also came as quite a shock since you are associated with Home Depot. After discussing my issue with them, it turns out that that they only guarantee 70% of 50 gallons which means an 18 min shower is about right to them. So, If I were to schedule a test call with someone and it turns out that the Water Heater is working to their standards, then I would have to pay a trip charge to another plumber. Since then I have left multiple messages to discuss what our options might be at this point. I feel incredibly misled from the very beginning. I feel like my problem has been placated in hopes of it going away. I feel like I have paid $890 for a water heater that performs about as good as my 9 year old model. I will not make any demands or threats here. I simply ask that you try and look at this from my perspective and do everything within your power to make this right and let me know what that will be sometime next week.and quot; <br />"

"We bought a house and discovered it had a gas dryer.  We had the plumber cap off the gas line to be able to install our dryer, which is electric.  Then had them check the line to the gas logs in the fire place and show us how that operates as this is the first we have ever had gas in the house.  Very quick on the line cap, and very willing to take time to talk about how to operate the gas logs, and show how easy it would be to put a new set in ourselves in the future.  Called on Monday and they set the appointment for 8:30 Wednesday.  Only reason they get a B on punctuality is they arrived at 9, but that might be due to the rain we've had which might have caused some traffic delay, but is still good.  Also took the time to discuss some down the road projects as far as cost.  Great experience.  We will definitely use this provider again. <br />"

"I have used Graham's Plumbing for several years and they provide consistently high quality service at a reasonable price. On this particular job, I needed a toilet installed. I had not replaced shut-off valves in the eight years that I have owned the property and know that over time they calcify and deteriorate; so I had them change out the valves before they went bad. Two of Sam's crew came out and completed the job in a couple of hours. They were courteous, as always, and cleaned up after themselves upon completion of the work. Graham's Plumbing has replaced a water heater for me on a rental property and shut-off valves at that property as well. They give you the option of getting the water heater or toilet from them or they will install one that you provide. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Boston, KY

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
