"We had a sewer line leak, a sump pump replacement, an outdoor faucet replacement, a tub drain repair and expansion sleeves installed on vertical sewer pipes. Anthony was very knowledgable and helpful. Everything fixed and I would hire Flatirons again.."

"we just had issues with the sump pump not working correctly after the new one was installed, we called the company and they came back a couple of times until it was fixed. the only issue I have is that it should work the first time and it should be a quality sump pump for 850.00. However it works now, but my son said the new parts are not 5 star quality. I don't know, all I know is its working, I guess ask me in a couple of years. but it works now."

"Great drain clearing service by Jordan without all the bait and switch add-ons provided by the lower cost services. His charge included camera work before and after, with the best guarantee: no payment if he can't clear the line. He uses more powerful equipment than the cheaper services. Don't fall for the $95 service offered by others -- I tried them and they are a scam. They come out, use their lower power equipment unsuccessfully, and then try to get you to upgrade for major repairs. This guy is honest from the start and gets your line cleared in one visit."

"I researched 3 different plumbing companies and Tyco was half the price of the other two companies. I was shown what needed to be repaired which was exactly the same information from the others. Also he found a less damaging alternative than tearing up the yard. They are very helpful in setting up a good time to take care of the system. Tyler allowed me to pay half now and the other half at the end of month when my refi closes which helps me very much Very pleasant experience."

"Everything was fine. Our sewer clean out line was not installed correctly, which meant that the plumber had to take off our toilet to access and scope the sewer, but he was friendly, courteous, and as quick as was possible, all things considered."

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Boulder, CO

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
