"Gunner Roofing has an excellent team that completed my house siding project. As certified installers of James Hardie, they were professional from start to finish! Andrew was extremely knowledgeable of the product and created a spectacular design and assisted w/ the financing of my project. He was always available to answer all questions. The Project Manager Anthony communicated daily with project updates and was extremely responsive to questions and addressed all concerns in a timely manner. The workers were exceptional as they always arrived early and worked late to ensure completion of the work. Really appreciated their attention to detail! I highly recommend this company!"

"I decided to go with Millstream because of the reviews on Angi and other websites. As contracted, Millstream replaced my roof in a day and installed a ridge vent. Supervision of work and post installation inspection was poor that I had to request a replacement inspector. I had to inform them of missed gable vent closure; loose shingle, wavy ridge vent line. Most importantly, I had to research; and inform them that a Ridge vent needs multiple soffit openings and I had only 1. They agreed it was a miss and said they would fix the issue so I could “BREATHE PROPERLY” in my house. And they charged me additional $850. Nonetheless I am currently enjoying my new roof!"

"It turned out that the window to be replaced was difficult for the manufacturer to identify because the manufacturer had changed the design that year. David was in frequent contact with us as he ensured that the manufacturer provided the correct replacement. When the window did arrive, David promptly scheduled an appointment with us for the installation/repairs. David and his coworker were on time and very efficient. Because cold weather had set in, he pre-painted the new window the day prior to the appointment. David placed drop cloths everywhere he worked in our house and his coworker cleaned extraneous dirt after they were finished. The work performed was excellent and we would definitely hire David for any other work."

"Kris Perkins came out the day after I called her for an estimate. She spent a good half hour examining the roof closely. It was evident that it was probably smart to completely re-roof given the wear on our asphalt shingles, but she provided us with options all the same. She gave us separate estimates for: repair ($450), re-tiling over the existing shingle ($4,500), and tearing down the old shingle and replacing the roof ($7,320). We had bids as high as $14,000 for complete re-roofing of our home and garage, so her bids were very reasonable. I noticed that she uses highly rated Certainteed asphalt shingles for roofing. We did not end up using her because another excellent contractor had put in a low bid and was able to start right away. But I would definitely contact her again for work on our home. <br />"

"After I purchased this coupon, it was at least a week before I was contacted to schedule an appointment. When they called they gave me some reason for getting confused about whether or not they had already completed my services, but I wasn't too concerned. They told me they would contact me later that day with a fixed date. I didn't hear from them for another week, so I called back and they told me they were going to call me that day. Either way, we scheduled a time for an appointment. They arrived on time which was nice. They took a look at my roof which I knew to be a new roof. I wasn't expecting any work to be needed, but I was happy to pay $99 to have a professional come in to take a look and give me peace of mind. What I wasn't expecting was a sales pitch for almost ~$2,000 worth of services. They tried to sell me an improved venting system and completely replaced flashing. I thought the pitch seemed a little over the top so I did what I wish I had done from the start. I contacted my real estate agent for a referral for a roof guy to come out and give me a second opinion. Sure enough, he found nothing wrong, and told me I had a brand new roof. He said the improved venting could be accomplished by simply expanding the existing vents for significantly cheaper than installing an entirely new system (but he didn't even recommend doing that), and that there was nothing wrong with my flashing. So needless to say, I won't be trusting these guys to do work for me in the future."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Bozrah, CT

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
