"We had American Hime Fitters put in a couple doors and windows. We called about a month ago, they were very prompt and professional showing up on time. Our materials as well as the install happened quicker than we expected right before Christmas. If you are looking to get projects done this is the Go to Company. "I hired East Coast Metal Roofing to install a new roof on a rental property. I had one problem after another. They didn’t look in the attic when doing their estimate, and to my surprise, all the plywood had to be replaced. Then, they were pushing me to sign off on the statement of completion using words of guilt, not fair. They schedule a crew to clean three times, and I still found 18 nails and a large 8” by 8” metal shingle laying in the open, plain sight. Now, I had a home inspector inspect the completeness of their work, I’m being told that the flashing on the heat pipe is properly installed. Like most other contractors, they promise you the world and went it comes to following through there isn’t any true support. If you have doubts, I’m happy to share emails and pictures 603-657-0041"

"I hired Sammy to do several projects in a rental property, including replacing the roof, repairing the chimneys, installing gutters, painting the deck and the porch of the property and a couple of smaller other jobs. He was extremely professional and easy to deal with. He showed up on schedule with a large crew and got the job done very fast. Overall he was a pleasure to work with."

"I got 4 quotes for the job.Owner James Burrows of J Thomas roofing was very professional and gave me the most detailed proposal. Also the lowest quote.Very large job other companies estimated 4 to 5 days to complete.James showed up early with a large crew and finished that evening.A big plus not having to live amid a construction zone .Roof looks great and didn't find a nail in the yard.(Cut the grass low and trim bushes before they start. They run a large magnet over the yard as part of cleanup.)Will definitely recommend to family and friends."

"Mr. Maynard returned my call on the same day. He came to my house the next day and inspected my roof and the leak damage inside. He returned that afternoon with a detailed estimate, which I approved. He rurned two days later with a helper and began the work. The job took five days due to intermittent rain. He made sure I was waterproof at all times during the removal of the old section of roof and the installation of the new one. He finished expeditiously and on budget. I got a quality job at an outstanding price. He will stay in touch to make sure the new section of repaired roof stays watertight. I highly recommend Robert Maynard."

"Gary, was very helpful and pointed me on the right direction after I had discussed my concerns. Had he been able to help me I would have gladly hired him. My system ended up being under warranty and he suggested I contact the manufacture as to not void my warranty."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Bozrah, CT

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
