"This was the second job John has done for us. (The first was repair from water leak in kitchen). He was thorough, friendly and knowledgeable. He was patient and flexible with us as well. When the usual unexpected challenges occurred, he always had a plan B. John answered calls and texts promptly. We are very happy with our new bathroom and updated doors. Thanks John!"

"The concrete apron was done first.  The wooden forms used by the contractor who laid down the asphalt driveway had begun to weaken.  The concrete apron will protect the driveway for a long time.  There was no walkway from the driveway to the main entrance of our home.  Mel, from Vista Landscaping helped design a wonderful patio/walkway to the main entrance.  We liked the work so much, we hired Vista to do the walkways in the back of our home.  The front just didn't look complete after the patio/walkway was finished, so we had a large planter put in place using larger Cal Stone blocks.  When everything was completed the was a huge change in the curb appeal of our home.  Mel, and his crew did a wonderful job.  We have used them twice and if there are any more landscaping projects, we will hire them. <br />"

"From start to finish Brian was on the job site. He was professional and patient. He willingly made changes to details when we changed our minds. He worked closely with other contractors on the site and made sure the job was completed in an efficient timely manner. One part of the job was required AT&T and the City of Pacific Grove to approve the placement and pouring of a box shared between two properties. While the approval took several weeks, as soon it came through the concrete was poured the next day and the job was complete. My overall experience was very positive and would highly recommend Brain and his company BW Engineering they did a fantastic job and really coordinated well with other people working on other details of the site. BW Engineering helped recreate our Grandmother's home and make it a place for our family to enjoy."

".John Leblanc made a thorough inspection during which I described in detail the work to be done. The job required the removal of a large mound of poor quality, stony soil as well as the removal of a large quantity of coarse gravel and some modifications to a steel reinforced concrete patio.   He sent me an estimate in a few days.  I agreed to the terms and his crew arrived on time on the appointed day.  John's crew worked steadily for 2 1/2 days removing several tons of dirt and gravel and a few rocks all by pick and shovel.  They had to use a concrete cutter to shape the patio and all of the debris was loaded on a large truck by wheelbarrow and hauled away. On the third day they brought in approximately one ton of topsoil and spread it over the new plantable area.  All debris was swept up and the entire area was left clean and ready to be utilized as a garden/patio.  The workers were very open to my suggestions and were willing to do a few extra s such as cutting bevels at the corners of the concrete and bring in good topsoil at no extra charge.  I got exactly what I wanted and the job was better than I hoped for <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Bradley, CA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
