"I can't even begin to describe how pleased we are with the work that Milecas and his crew did. He not only understood our vision but exceeded it. Milecas installed a patio with 2 seat walls, one with a back wall, the other with columns, both with lighting. He also installed a patio door landing with steps and lighting. Both the patio and steps were beautiful but the thing that struck me most about Milecas is his integrity and dedication to his work. The work was finished according to the schedule that we agreed on and on budget. Talking of budget, we talked to 6 contractors including Milecas and Milecas has the lowest cost and we got more for our money. I highly, without any reservation, recommend him to anyone looking to do this type of work."

"Flori concrete quickly responded to my request for an estimate. The representative provided detail on the type of concrete he uses, made recommendations about widening the walkway and adding a curved section where the walkway meets the driveway. A few days later, I called and gave the approval to do the work. We agreed to a date about four weeks later. <br /> <br />The crew of workers arrived on time and went right to work. They quickly tore out the old concrete and loaded it into a truck. By early afternoon the new concrete was poured and the next hour or so was spent smoothing the concrete, and shortly after, removing the framing, then cleanup. <br /> <br />The quality of the work was very good and I am pleased with the results and the price. I have only two negative comments: The day was very hot, but the crew of 8 did not bring anything to drink with them - they asked me if I had bottled water that I could give them, which I did. Second, after they left, I found empty plastic water bottles in my shrubbery and around my yard. Very unprofessional. <br /> <br />All in all, I would recommend this contractor for this type of work. <br />"

"We had hired another Masonary (I can’t even call it a company). Which destroyed the foundaion of the steps. We then hired Stone Craft to perform a miracle, and that’s exactly what they did. Stone Craft staff’s were amazing . They were so professional, gifted with their Masonary skills , so polite and they treated my house like if it was their house. They took care of my property like if I was a family member. I highly ,highly recommend Stone Craft Co. we are so delighted with the work that was performed to our home. These are gifted young men that work so well together. And I can’t say enough about the owner Chris, he really cares about his customers. Thank you so much guys for your amazing skills."

"GTM was amazing to work with. GTM worked on a large project recreating our home's front steps and walkway. George and his entire staff were professional, diligent and a true pleasure to work with. They worked diligently and expeditiously. George was very responsive and communicated well as the project evolved. He always made sure everything was done to perfection. We would highly recommend using GTM for any hardscaping or landscaping projects."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Bridgeton, NJ

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
