"Daniel was nothing but professional! Listened to my needs, worked with me on the price. Came out right away when I had a roof leak. Responds very fast to my emails and texts. Quality materials and job done on my new roof. Goes above and beyond for his clients. The guy he recommended did and outstanding job replacing my ceiling after the leak. Would absolutely use this company again! :)"

"This was the best contractor that I’ve ever hired Brandon knows what he’s talking about. Obviously he knows about carpentry as well as roofing material. He knew exactly what I needed and he knew exactly what the best product would be for my flat roof. Brandon was very proactive from start to finish. I was pleasantly surprised the entire time. I’m extremely pleased with the final product. The installation process was very professional and very well done. I would recommend this contractor to everyone."

"Great job well executed. These are very high quality professionals capable of diagnosing root causes of your problem, digging out the construction code and educating you on the right thing to do. You can hire cheaper handyman/chimney guys and get a recurring problem or you can hire these licensed professionals and take care of things the right way. Wish I had never used anyone else!"

"Discovered a small hole in the roof while cleaning gutters. Checked attic and in ran through to the plywood. Looked like tree branch had come down and punctured a hole. Called Roof Advance and they came for an estimate the next day and worked me into their production schedule. Cost for the actual repair came in under the original estimate, price was very reasonable. Repair looks great, can hardly tell a difference from the existing shingles. Glad they could help with such a small job, will definitely consult when the time comes for a new roof."

"I highly recommend Roof Rite. Jim the owner came out to give an estimate and upon meeting him I knew this was the company that would be doing my roof. He was not the cheapest but he was not the most expensive either. I felt he was honest and personable and sold us on what he would do for us. They did everything they said they would and completed the job in just a few days with very minimal mess. Honest and reliable ~ the roof looks great and I couldn’t be more satisfied with Roof Rite."

"I think they do excellent work and their cost is reasonable. The cost is $300. That is the least amount of work he will do on a roof. I thought it was reasonable because we have a steep roof and I was not about to go up there myself."

"RoofAdvisor has resolved a leaking roof problem that has plagued us for over 30 years! <br> <br>In 1986, we purchased a home with a minor roof leak, in the attached garage, that the previous owner claimed he could fix before we took possession.  He couldn’t fix it.  It continued to leak whenever the rain blew in from the north. <br> <br>When the roof was ready for replacement 5 years later (1992), we paid a brand name roofing company to install a second layer of shingles, believing they would be able to fix the leak.  However, their efforts failed to resolve the problem.  Given this experience, we were very apprehensive about consulting more roofing contractors. <br> <br>Over the years, we tried various do-it-yourself “repairs” which slowed the leak, but did not stop it.  More years passed and water damage slowly accrued.  Recently, two more leaks sprang to life.  Now what should we do? <br> <br>Desperate, we recently contacted a well advertised, multi-faceted home improvement company, and asked for them to come out and advise us.  An appointment was scheduled, but they didn’t show up.  Their 800-number salesperson told us they couldn’t fix problem roofs like ours, and that we should have a roof inspection performed.  Not quite the answer we expected, but it turned out to be good advice. <br> <br>We Googled “roof inspectors”, and discovered RoofAdvisor. <br> <br>After speaking with a RoofAdvisor project manager, an appointment was made with a roof inspector to conduct a thorough, free inspection.  He carefully checked everything, inside and out, and provided us with a compressive report of his findings.  He predicted that there was something wrong with the installation of one or more flash cards behind the siding above the leak.  He assured us that the root cause could be confirmed after a tear off of the two layers of old shingles, and the then fixed as part of a new roof installation.  Other than the leaks, the old shingles were holding up well after 25 years, but nearing expected end of life. <br>  <br>Anxious to have the leaks resolved, we decided to consider immediate roof replacement.  After bringing us up-to-date on roofing technology and materials, he let us pick a shingle style/color and warranty that was the best match for our budget and quality expectations.  He then prepared an on-the-spot cost estimate which we were relieved to find affordable.  We believe it is much less than we would have paid elsewhere. <br> <br>The next day, the RoofAdvisor project manager called to schedule the drop off of a dumpster for the tear-off debris, and roof delivery of the new roofing materials for the following Wednesday.  The roofing crew was scheduled for the following two days. <br>  <br>Upon the roofing crew’s arrival, we were relieved when the foreman confirmed that he had reviewed the inspector’s analysis, and was aware of our concerns.  He expressed confidence in their ability to determine root cause and resolve all leaks. As predicted by the roof inspector, the roofing crew discovered that a flash card was missing in the original construction.  After replacing water damaged wood, new flash cards were installed and the new shingles installed. <br>  <br>What a relief! <br> <br>Despite the cold weather, the crew worked very hard for two days to complete the roof replacement, and conducted a thorough cleanup.  The waste dumpster was picked up the following day. <br> <br>If we’re still alive in 30 years, we’ll plan on going with RoofAdvisor again.  Meanwhile, we will recommend RoofAdvisor to others. <br> <br>Thank you Elise, Chris, Jim, and the hard working crew!  Job well done! <br>"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Brighton, MI

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
