"Daniel from Page Plumbing arrived at the assigned time, was very professional and friendly. He worked with my bathroom remodeler to establish prices and scope of work, then proceeded to do the prep work needed in half a day, as estimated. He kept us informed all along the process and we are impressed with the work done. We look forward to completing the remodeling quickly and again recommend Page Plumbing highly. (Our second service - first was redoing our well, also well done."

"I asked for three quotes from Angie's List. I had chosen a large home services company from the list, and Angie's supplied me with two other names nearby. Borselle was the only contractor who called back and discussed the project. His call was very prompt, within a day. We asked him to replace a toilet with a quality water-saving model, and he was very knowledgeable and helpful in choosing a model, which he purchased and brought with him. It was a great choice. He also was helpful in answering other questions that we had. Plus, his price for the replacement was one-third less than the giant home repair company that had done similar work a year before. Borselle is definitely our new go-to plumber."

"Andrew was great on time and personable. He knew what he was doing and even showed me the issues. He fixed what he was able to and advised me on what I need to do next since the next issue was not the plumbing. When I was urgently looking for someone to come fix the leak I had, everyone else was unable to make it the day of. Andrew made it in an hour from speaking with him. I would recommend his services to anyone needing a plumber."

"It took longer than he thought and was a difficult job to do. The house is old and can be difficult to have work done. But Mike was fantastic. He knew just what to do. Great to start the new year with my new system in the tub. As seniors we will definitely call him again for any plumbing problems. We hope he will be available when we do. Thank you Mike you are a hero to us."

"I was worried that my 2 outside faucets were leaking and causing my water bill to increase. John from Advanced Plumbing came by and checked both faucets and the inside pipes. He said they were in good shape and he even showed me how to monitor the water neater. John also gave me a quote for new faucets should I decide to replace them since the house is older. The service was great with both John and the people I spoke with on the phone. I will call Advanced next time I have a plumbing or heating issue. In another entirely different situation: My son lost his wallet and an Chris an employee of Advanced plumbing returned it to him. He didn’t know my son but took the time to come to our house to return my sons wallet with everything intact. Advance plumbing hires honest good people."

"Mark has become my go-to plumber for everything. Most important is that he does the work well, because I want those plumbing connections to last for decades. (I'm sure everyone feels this way, but most reviewers can only judge how well a contractor cleans up afterwards, which is not important in the long run.) I also appreciate his ability to squeeze a task into his schedule without a long wait, and his affordable prices. ------------------------ Some reviews comment on Mark (and of course many other contractors) showing up late for a job sometimes. The only contractor who you can count on showing up on time is the one who has no other job before yours that day. Unless you took the first slot of the day, that empty schedule means the contractor isn't very busy, which often means the contractor doesn't do good work or is just starting out on his/her own. That's because construction work is full of surprises, typically unpleasant ones that make jobs take longer than they should. Scheduling defensively wastes the contractor's time and makes the average customer wait longer for service. The result is that contractors, like doctors, often aren't ready at the scheduled time. If you want to maximize the chance of a contractor showing up on time, choose a day where you will be their first customer. (Though recognize that like a doctor's office, even then an emergency could pull them away.) As a customer, I don't mind waiting for a contractor, because I understand about the surprises, because the quality of work matters most to me, and because my schedule at home is flexible."

"I called and got a call back within the 24 hours states in the message. They were able to come out quickly and take care of all work that was possible to do. They came within the allotted 2 hour window and were polite and cleaned up after they were done. They fixed the toilet and made sure it worked properly, made an adjustment as well as installed the new sink and faucet. We have an old tub with a old style lead pipe that clogs quickly. They tried to do a few things to help but didn’t want to damage the pipe. They are the only plumbers that gave an alternative to cutting a hole in my living room ceiling that would ruin antique plaster work. They suggested going through an adjacent closet. I will be calling them in the future to replace tub drain pipe."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Bristol, CT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
