"Fresh Face Cabinet Refacing is an excellent company to work with. Ken the owner met with us several times to come up with a design that we absolutely love. Ken built seven new cabinets and installed them. Installed soft-close on all the doors and drawers and redesigned the existing cabinets and peninsulia. He added decorative feet and raised panel to our cabinets and peninsula creating a custom furniture style look. We highly recommend Fresh Face Cabinet Refacing!"

"Ariel worked very well with us on the design, style and layout of the cabinets. Kitchen and bathroom remodels are time schedule nightmares. Ariel produced a high quality product, clear maple, shaker style cabinets on time. Very happy with his work."

"The quality of Mike's work was decent. The price was fair. My advice: if you use Mike be sure to HOLD BACK PAYMENT until all work is complete. Details: resurfacing project for kitchen cabinets, total project ~$10k. Mike resurfaced as well as converted a few cabinets to a better configuration for our needs. He reinforced a few shelves too. I was and continue to be happy with the work. However, there were three things that were never completed, and I wish I had held back payment. He never returned to complete the work, despite following up for months. 1) hinge hardware for several doors is of the wrong type and interferes with use of the cabinets. the fix is to replace the hinges on about 6 of the cabinets. 2) holes were put in the wall to provide room for the wrong hinges. these holes were filled in a completely unprofessional way. when you open the cabinets it is glaring and looks terrible. this is the cabinet where we store plates for dinner, so I am reminded every night. the fix is to fill, sand, and paint these holes AND replace the hinges. 3) he drilled a hole for a door pull in the wrong location. He filled the hole but it's obvious and in a highly visible location. the fix is to replace the door. mike said he ordered but never came by to replace. 4) for a large pantry door, it is clearly visible that screws to mount the door were too long and are pushing out from under the finished surface, again a highly visible location. the fix is to replace the door. mike said he ordered but never came by to replace."

"They only thing I didn't care for is that they outsourced everything. You have different people you have to contact. You have one contractor for the cabinets and one for the counter top and that was a little frustrating. The workmanship for the cabinet refacing was excellent. There was a lack of communication and it took them a long time to complete it. They started Nov. 2 and they didn't finish until the week before Christmas. It was nothing real major but the first time around they ordered the wrong size of the cabinets, the second time they forgot to bring the doors and they didn't finish with the detail work. The project was prolonged. The contractor who did the counter top did an excellent job. They came the day they were supposed to come and completed the job that day. I'd probably shop around more if I needed to do something like that again. The quality of work was really good, it's just that there was a big break down in communication."

"We recently had our entire home remodeled by SOD Home Group, and everything went great. Oren and his team of professionals did excellent work, respected out home, and worked hard to get the job done on time and on budget. The final results of the remodeling project include everything we asked and wanted. They paid so much attention to all the details, and none of them didn’t cut corners at all. We really recommend anyone who lives in the area and needs a reliable and an amazing remodeling company to contact SOD Home Group. We are 100% recommend their services. They are great!"

"An appointment was made with Shelby Arbuckle, who was very punctual. Shelby took measurements, discussed options for lumber/composite materials, and explained what the project would entail. The estimate, which arrived 9 days after his visit, provided detailed information on the items included in the final price, from demolition to drywall. Although I did not engage Tiger Construction for this job due to their estimated cost, Shelby's professionalism and attention to detail would prompt me to contact him for any future project."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Brookdale, CA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
