"This contractor was hired to re-slope our front yard from front sidewalk to 10 inches from the sidewalk. They offered the cheapest price by about $300 over another contractor to do this. Things started okay. We gave them 1/2 of the contract price up front. They used a sod cutter to remove the first 10 feet of yard. They lowered the dirt level and then began replacing the sod they had removed. In laying the sod back in our yard, they came up short about 20% of the removed sod. We had to pay them an additional dollar amount for more sod. That was above the contract price, but is not what the lower rating is mostly about. After they finished laying the sod and rolling it one time. We notice the area still had high spots in it, so we asked them to roll it again. Tyler, was the man in charge and gave us a verbal promise to come back in two weeks and re-roll it again if we reminded him. We paid the remainder of the contract price at that time. That apparently was our mistake. After two weeks we called him and were told that the roller was leaking, and he had to purchase a new one through an online store. He said they would do it first thing when they received the roller. We waited another week and called/texted him and received the same answer. We continued to either call or text him for four or five weeks and received again the same answer. My wife called him asking if he could rent a roller to finish our yard. I also checked at Home Depot and found that I could rent one for only $13 and 5 rollers were available. I figured, being a contractor, he could rent one for even less. I told him finally that if it was not done within the following week that I would answer this review with an *Incomplete Work*. Apparently that does not bother him, because it has been around a month since I said that, and nothing has been done. Being in our 70s we were always taught that our verbal promises were just as binding as written ones. I guess this company disagrees with me. Our mistake!"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for patios, walks & steps installation projects in Brownfield, TX

To calculate your paver needs:

  • Determine how many pavers cover a square foot.

  • Determine how many square feet you need.

  • Add an additional 10% to 20% for breakage and waste.

  • Consider your pavers’ sizes.

Or, you can hire a local pro who you know will get the right measurements the first time. This way, you get your weekend back instead of spending it measuring square footage.

A pallet of pavers costs $300 to $700 on average, and each pallet covers 56 square feet. The exact price depends on the type, size, and quantity of pavers you choose. Buying in bulk can sometimes offer additional savings, especially for larger projects. Ask your pro how you can save on material costs.

To get the best prices on pavers:

  • Hire a professional landscaper: Pros often receive discounts on materials, which can make hiring them more cost-effective overall.

  • Shop at local building supply stores: Check for overstock or bulk purchase deals. Bulk purchasing can be more costly up front but save you money in the long run.

  • Buy directly from manufacturers: Purchasing from a local brickyard or paver factory can offer competitive prices, especially for large quantities.

The main difference between driveway pavers and patio pavers is their load-bearing capacity. Driveway pavers are designed to withstand the weight of vehicles, whereas patio pavers aren’t suitable for such heavy loads. You can use driveway pavers for a patio, but using patio pavers for a driveway could lead to damage. Always check the weight limits of pavers and consult with a professional installer to choose the right type for your project.

Paver patios cost more than concrete patios because the materials and installation methods require advanced techniques and skilled labor. They deliver enhanced aesthetic appeal and allow for easier small‑scale repairs without affecting property taxes. The higher expense arises from premium paver materials and intricate installation processes that deliver long‑lasting durability and design flexibility. This robust solution provides notable benefits over concrete alternatives, making it a valuable investment for homeowners.
