"I had a wonderful experience with New Life Refinishing! I wanted to change my kitchen from oak to white which can be very tricky to do without looking tacky. I found his website by doing a google search for refinishing kitchen cabinets. Nick came over and gave me an estimate right away. He has a very warm personality and is immediately likeable. I knew after talking to him about his process and reviewing his photos on his website that I had found the right person to do the job. He kept me in the loop through the whole thing. He comes over when he says he will and calls beforehand, he finishes the job when he says he will. He took my cabinet doors and drawer faces back to his shop and sprays them there. He came into my house and sprayed the actual cabinets and surrounds. The whole process took under a week and I was amazed at how stunning the kitchen cabinets came out. I can't stop looking at the kitchen without saying WOW! His attention to detail and the quality and craftsmanship is beyond compare. I would highly recommend New Life Refinishing to anyone and would ask him to do any future work!!!"

"Dave & Margo Miller are a pleasure to do business with.  Dave came out to our home to take measurements and listened to what we wanted to do with our kitchen. Previous owners had installed new granite countertops and a new backsplash but didn't do anything with the old outdated cabinets. We wanted to keep the granite and backsplash but needed something done with the cabinets. Dave is very knowledgable and based on what we told him (he really listens to you) made some suggestions with refacing that we really liked. He returned with his bid and also brought many samples based upon what we told him we liked in various woods, stains and finishes. We picked out new doors, drawer fronts and several new pull out trays. He also gave us ideas on how he could reconfigure our old out-dated corner cabinet lazy Susan. He took out the old lazy Susan and replaced it with new shelving, installed a new folding front cabinet door and installed a back door cabinet  under our eating bar for rear access to the area. We now have lots of storage space and easy access to the rear area. We were also interested in updating old  under-counter & above-cabinet lighting. Dave suggested some great LED lighting. The work started exactly when Dave said it would in late Oct. He and Margo make a great team installing everything plus they are fun to work with. The product is  beautiful and high quality. Dave even came on a Saturday and helped with the installation of new ceiling lighting. The installation did take a bit longer than anticipated due to a few unforeseen problems, which were all taken care of and a few additions that we made. We are very pleased with the results and would definitely recommend them. <br />"

"I used Kirkland Custom Cabinets, Inc. We used them about seven weeks ago. They charged $600. It was really good. I would give them high marks all across the board. The quality of work, they stayed on budget, on time and the technician actually helped me install the stuff which was more than they signed up to do. So they really did a good job and did extra."

"<p>Keith picked up the dresser from my home and it was in pretty bad shape - sat in a garage for decades. The dresser was stripped and stained. The final result is simply beautiful. I would never have guessed it would turn out so lovely. I did ask for Keith to replace the mirror. There was a delay at the glass company so the mirror was never installed (nor charged for). I decided at a later date to work directly with the glass company to have the mirror installed. I was very pleased with the quality of the work AND it was completely very promptly. Keith and his staff were very pleasant and helpful when estimating, picking up, and delivery the furtniture. I will definitely use Final Finish again in the future - I have more projects needing attention!<br /> <br /> Update: Keith at Final Finish actually got the mirror ready for installation for me, so I never had to work with the glass company.</p>"

"Kevin & crew were on time, efficient and very attentive to detail. The first crew tore out old cabinets and then the next crew was ready with the new cabinets. A painter was also on duty to caulk and touch up."

"FANTASTIC.  Called on a Tuesday, was told Thursday was his day to evaluate jobs.  Scheduled for him to come.  He was prompt and polite. <br /> Quoted me a price right then and there and agreed to have the cabinet back to my by the following Tuesday. <br /> The new box is amazing.  Such better quality than the original.  Fit right back in place without any problems.  I now have a fully enclosed sturdy beautiful cabinet. <br /> When we redo more cabinets we will be calling Chris!  Go look at his website the actual work is even better than the pictures and they are fantastic. <br />"

"This job started as new granite counter tops for the kitchen and ended up as a complete kitchen remodel. The owner, Chuck Sanderson, and the workers were all polite and efficient. The quality of the craftsmanship in the cabinet doors and custom molding Mr. Sanderson designed was amazing. Although cutting granite and ripping out the existing tile floor created a good bit of dust in the house, the workers were always neat and left the job site picked up daily. The only delays were caused by my sink and tile choices that were not readily available. The best part of this job is that it was "one stop shopping"! As I realized I wanted more work done, Mr. Sanderson suggested that his crew could handle the new jobs. He even arranged for the kitchen to be repainted. I liked dealing with one company and thought they did an excellent job."

"Overall, I was very satisfied with Premier Surfaces. Lindsey was my project manager / sales associate. She met my wife and I on a Saturday morning as a special appointment (they do not have regular hours on Saturday, appointment only). I had gotten another quote from a different Granite installer that was slightly higher and they only allow you to see their slabs during the week, which is an inconvenience for me. Lindsey was very nice to us, and she answered all our questions. I felt like she went above and beyond for our whole buying experience. We picked a slab, setup a measurement appointment (really early in the morning during the week, like 7 am or earlier). The measurement appointment was on time and took a reasonable amount of time (maybe 30 minutes). My only disappointment with Premier surfaces is they sold me on their SlabSmith program which supposedly allows you to see how your countertops will look upon installation. I took this to mean it would take a photo of my kitchen, and show me exactly what it would look like in a 3d image. The reality is that it shows you a plan view (from above) of what your countertops will look like, and we chose a black granite which had minimal color variation, so it looked like a few black boxes. Lindsey sent me another version of it that had a grainier granite and it still wasn't what I expected (3d), but I could see how it could be helpful for some folks. I just didn't think it was that big of a deal. For the installation, it was relatively easy to schedule, they were supposed to be at our house at 3:15 and they were about 1 hour late, the 4 hour installation time took about 3.5 hours, and ultimately it resulted in a beautiful end product. So I think there's some room for improvement, but I still would use them again without hesitation. See photos below for before and after (also had floors done) and the photos of the Slabsmith."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Brownsboro, AL

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
