"Sean was so helpful in taking care of the asbestos for us. He was timely and very good at communicating. We requested service and he called us right away the same day within an hour to discuss the issue. He went above and beyond to test other suspicious tape. Everything is taken care of now and we feel safe! Highly recommend."

"Rapid Restoration was excellent to work with on a water damage issue I had discovered. They worked with me on cleaning an affected surface as well as air quality testing so we could have exact information for the best health of the home. They were able to get started the same day and were professional and wonderful to work with from the first phone call through the completion of the job. Chad is very knowledgeable and his crew was great. It turned out that we did not need to take additional steps for remediation because the diagnostics came back without concerns. I appreciated that this team had the skill and abilities to provide information and work up possible plans from "best case to worst case scenario" then take the most fitting action. We found a perfect result for the home at much lower cost than could have been the case without such an honest exam. I had two other companies out to look and Rapid stood out in terms of timing, communication, assessment, and an efficient plan. I couldn't be happier and will definitely call them again and highly recommend them!"

"We recently bought an older house, and we decided to get the it tested for lead since we are expecting a baby.  Louis was very informative and prompt when I initially called to ask about his services and schedule an appointment. <br /> The inspection was very thorough.  It was also nice to be able to get everything tested without having to damage any walls.  He used a portable analyzer that he pointed at each surface.  Each measurement included the concentration of lead that was detected as well as the depth beneath the surface at which it was detected.  I think the whole process took about 4 hours.  We met him towards the end of the appointment, and he spoke to us about the hazards that he found.  He had plenty of advice about how to deal with it and be safe. <br /> Afterwards, he sent us a very detailed report with with the lead measurements for each surface throughout our house.  It's quite useful.  Now I know which parts of the house I can safely work on without worrying about lead paint, which is especially important with a baby in the house. <br /> Overall, Louis was pleasant to deal with and was even nice enough to answer some remaining questions I had a couple of weeks after the inspection. <br />"

"I only joined Angie's List so I could share with other people what a positive experience this was. I had previously hired another person to do mold testing in my basement, but was doubtful about the report, especially when the OTHER report recommended clearly unnecessary remediation by their friends and partners. Tom was thorough, spending 5x the amount of time the previous inspector did and he clearly detailed a simple action plan. He is obviously an expert in his field, and offered low-cost alternatives that are superior to popular, high-buck products. He supported his approach with science and research, which was comforting to me. Save yourself some headache and call this guy FIRST."

"Wish I could give them an A+! I was very impressed with Todd's expertise and customer service. We will definately be going back to Legend for future testing needs. We wanted to test some building materials from our 1920's house for asbestos before doing demolition. I called and consulted Todd over the phone on costs and sample collection before bring the samples over. Their rates for bulk analysis of asbestos were very economical in my opinion ($35 for 1 sample or $25/sample if multiple samples w/ 3-5 day turn) with options to pay for expedited results if you don't have time to wait ($50 for next day/sample or $100 for same day). When I arrived, he came out to talk through the samples and was very knowledgeable about building materials and which were likely or unlikely to contain asbestos. We had some multi-layered plaster and Todd explained how it was constructed and which layers, if any, were the most likely to contain asbestos. We dropped our sample off at 8am and requested next day results since we planned to start demo. We had results later the same day."

"We have used Brian and his team before. Not only is the painting excellent, but the wall and ceiling preparation (crack repair, etc.) is masterful. Cleanup is excellent as well which is particularly difficult when extensive sanding is involved. They worked daily without skipping for other jobs. Cleanup was done daily. They use more materials (plastic coverings, tarps, etc.) than other painters we have used in the past. They do what is necessary for excellent results."

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Burnsville, MN

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
