"FIVE STARS FROM BEGINNING TO END!! I needed to have the shingles replaced on the rear portion of my roof. I scheduled 5 different roofers to come out to give me estimates. Jason was not only almost $2,000 cheaper than the others, he also pointed out some things that needed immediate attention on the front portion of my roof that nobody else had mentioned. He contacted me the week before letting me know that we were still on for the originally scheduled date and what to expect as it got closer. On the day of the install, Jason remained onsite while his large crew completed the job. When all was done I had a BEAUTIFUL new roof and my property was spotless!! You would have never believed that they were ever here!! I HIGHLY recommend Evans Quality Roofing and when it comes time to replace the front portion of my roof, I only need to make one call! Thank you Jason for a wonderful experience!!"

"Excellet! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The owner personally supervises the job and explained very clearly what my options were. He never tried to upsell me as some of the other roofing companies did when they made their bids. The job went very smoothly. One of their trucks made a small rut in my yard, and without my asking it was repaired before they left. The roof looks BEAUTIFUL. I am very pleased with the overall experience and the result."

"Mid-Atlantic's representatives and workers were prompt, courteous, efficient, and skillful. The house looks beautiful. Susie Burgers was particularly kind and helpful. When we discovered that, due to an honest misunderstanding, the workers brought and began to install a different color siding from what we thought we ordered, we thought we were in for a big hassle, but Susie immediately arranged the switch without any extra drama for us. Thank you, Susie, and thank you, Mid-Atlantic. You're the best!"

"We needed are master bathroom renovated and had to do it with a budget in mind. I was up front with that expectation and Greg was really great bring me numbers right away if there was unforeseen extra overages and expenditures through out the project. We chose a hexagon marble for the floor and white subway for the walls with a large niche. I’m a DIYer with perfectionist tendencies so when I wanted something changed or fixed He did it right away no problem. I had him install a infinity drain with inlay tile and some tile around it didn’t lay right after grouting and I asked for it be fixed and he did it no problem. He was honest with what worked or didn’t when I showed him pictures of what I wanted. The crew was every polite and always cleaned up their messes. I had to do some extra cleaning some days and at the end. Duct tape used for the floor protector paper left a big mess to get up but whatever. We also did all the painting our selves to save some money and installed the new light and sealed the marble ourselves. Also the plumber he contracts with was amazing. Him and his apprentice did excellent work and I was extremely happy. I will have them do all our heating and plumbing from now on. Over all I’m very pleased and would ask Tomas Brothers back in my house to do more projects."

"I am delighted to highly recommend Top Quality Contractors as a premier choice for home repair. My decision was based on glowing recommendations from several friends and neighbors who had previously used their services. As a first-time roof replacement customer, I had many concerns. Upon reaching out, I received a prompt call back from Carl the same day. He was exceptional, patiently guiding me through the entire process—from scheduling and material delivery to the projected timeline and final cost—which immediately assured me I had made the right choice. The project execution was flawless. Materials were delivered as promised, and the team commenced the tear-off and replacement shortly thereafter. The crew performed a fantastic job, even showing me where they made critical changes to my venting and ensuring I had a full understanding of the work. Following completion, Carl personally conducted an inspection and answered all residual questions. A great experience through & through"

"Generally I was pleased with the performance of the company and the quality of the job, although I did experience some frustration. Although the weather report for the day showed a very low chance of rain, a massive freak rain storm occurred while the company was performing the job. At the time the storm occurred, they had removed the roof from my house, and had not installed the new roof. As a result, the interior of my house was exposed. I had a fair amount of water damage as a result. The company owner, Terry, was not on site during the job (which is pretty standard practice, per my research), but he came over immediately upon hearing about the situation. He took a look at the damage and agreed that his company should cover the cost of having the damage repaired. Terry found a local contractor to do the work. The quality of the repair work was great, and I am pleased with the repairs. It is worth noting that it took over a month to have the damage completely repaired. I was out of town on vacation for a week during this time, but I still would of liked to have the situation resolved a little faster. Overall, I do believe that other roofing companies would not have been as willing or cooperative to resolve this situation. The roof looks good and hasn't given me any problems so far. Dry Tech also offered a much better warranty on the labor than other contractors that considered. The price was fair, but not the cheapest I found. They seemed to replace a reasonable amount of wood roof decking, as well, so they didn't gouge me there. They charged 5 dollars a liner foot for 6 inch wide roof decking, and 10 dollar a liner foot for 12 inch wide decking. Turns out my house has 8 inch wide decking, so they had to use the 12 inch wide boards for most of the job, and charge me 10 dollars per foot. Other companies that I priced were cheaper in this regard. Overall, I was mostly pleased with my experience with Dry Tech."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Butler, MD

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
