"This was my third time working with this contractor and each project was a pleasurable experience! As was the case with the other two, they started this project on time and finished on time! All the work was done according to strict Mount Lebanon code. They made suggestions based upon their experience i.e we wanted a six foot high shadow box fence but while Mount Lebanon code allows for a six foot high privacy fence of just about any style, they do not allow, by code, a six foot high shadowbox fence. Steve Hilpert proceeded to build us a 4 foot high shadowbox fence (the maximum height allowed by code) with a custom built 2 foot high trellis section which Mount Lebanon subsequently approved. The fence looks beautiful!
I was nervous about cutting a big hole in the wall of our addition to install the sliding glass door. Now the door looks like it has been there all along! It came out PERFECTLY!
The deck is also beautiful and solid as a rock! We had an issue with the location of our two central air conditioning units off the back of the house. The other contractors (which I found here on Angie's List as well) said they would just build over these units. Not knowing anything about central air conditioning this seemed reasonable to me. Steve was the ONLY contractor who told me that you absolutely CAN NOT block the air flow above the units! Not only that, he was honest enough to tell me that moving the units should be done by a qualified HVAC contractor. Now that is a contractor you can trust!
All work was completed on time and within budget. The same crew arrived early each day and were polite and professional. The job site was spotless at the end of each day!

"I was researching contratrors on Angie's list and came across Rick's reviews.  He had very positive reviews so I asked him to come out for an estimate. From our first meeting,  our experience with Rick Horn construction was top notch.  Rick was right on time, extremley friendly and very knowledgeable.  We discussed our plans and he had some suggestions which we had never thought about,  they are in place in the addition today and make it even better than we could have asked.  Rick got back to me quickly with an estimate,  his quote was right in the midlle of all our quotes,  but from our discussions I could tell the materials he would used would be of high quality.  Rick provided drawings and obained all the permits needed.  He was very patient while we worked through financing with bank,  even submitting a good deal of paperwork himself so that Rich Horn contruction is now a preapproved builder with our bank.  We were finally able to get our financing and started the project in early July.  As each sub contractor or Rick's crew came on site,  they all fit the Rich Horn mold (friendly, considerate, timely, quality work, and very neat).  Keith, Jeff and Rick Jr.  were onsite for the whole project (minus the plumbing and electrical).   The were great!  We actually miss not having them around.  These guys did incredible work.  It was beautiful.  And every day they cleaned the work site and were very considerate on how they impacted us and our house.  The addition completed in September and we are extremely happy.  The work is of quality and looks amazing.  Rick's crew put in french doors to enter the addition from our current house.  They could have dry walled around the doors, but instead installed a finished wood frame that accents the doors.  Every person that has seen our addition has commented on how beautiful the work is.  It has been 2 months and we have not even had to ask Rick to come back for any issues.  This is a testement to Rick and his crew.  I was quite worred about dealing with other contractors from a lot of horror stories I had heard,  but I would bring Rich back for more work in a second.

"the coming out and inspection of area was great and they sent the original quote in an agreeable, if not a little slow, time. however they missed one item of estimate which they corrected. however, when I requested they split the two room I was told they would but they never came at the agreed time. i called several times as i needed for the insurance, the price seemed reasonable and i was going to use, the person denied he agreed to re-quote each room on its own and told me unless i paid i was not receiving any quote. i am actually relieved, u think i dodged a horrible situation. i cannot recommend however it would not be fair to advise against using the company, as i think the paperwork and not the repair work is what they are lacking."
