"Jason was very informative and walked me through each step of the process. The turnover time from quote to paving was also quick which is always appreciated. The quality of work was excellent and I would highly recommend New England ABC to anyone looking for quality and detail oriented work."

"Aaron and his team installed two stone, curved walls on each side of the end of the driveway (in the culvert). It looks fabulous and such an improvement from what was there. Aaron discussed the job up front, did excellent work, kept the work space neat and tidy at the end of each day, was very approachable and flexible when an alteration was needed for one side. He was very professional in his approach, but also friendly and interested in what you want the scope of the job to be. I would highly recommend him! Get him on your side for your spring projects!"

"Marc was great to work with and accommodated us into his busy schedule to repair/reinstall a bluestone patio and install a new peastone walkway. He had great solutions for both projects and committed to getting the work done to our satisfaction."

"Anton and his helpers do beautiful work at a reasonable price. They take pride in their work and it shows. I would recommend this company to anyone looking to have a stone patio, walkway, fireplace/chimney work done. The owner was always on the site and actually did most of the work. They all were a pleasure and left the job site cleaner than they found it. I wish I could say this for more companies. I will definitely use Anton and Brick and Stones Masonry again."

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Buxton, ME

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
